2018 Annual Report—Department of Code Enforcement 19 <br /> SBACC Manager's Summary <br /> 2018 has further cemented my belief that I work with an extraordinary group of <br /> people! Many don't realize that shelter work is not completed only during shelter ,-a► '�� <br /> hours. SBACC staff take it upon themselves to work outside of the shelter to care for <br /> scared and sick animals. They return e-mails to rescues in the middle of the night and / / ,,.,, --, <br /> even sleep at the shelter during snow storms to be able to respond to emergencies. <br /> SBACC staff and volunteers are some of the most heartfelt and dedicated people I have l`" "`- <br /> ever had the honor of working alongside. �- x s `�" <br /> 2018 was a very challenging year for us.We saw an overall increase of approximately •' <br /> 10%in domestic animals. For a shelter facility that maintains 20 kennels for adoptable x', A r' <br /> animals and 15 kennels in the stray hold area,that is exceptionally challenging when <br /> trying to lower our euthanasia rates. Thankfully we welcomed a new part- <br /> 1 time staff member,Sara Kaszas,who increased our adoption numbers an Mission Statement <br /> amazing 44%over 2017.
