<br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 11, 2012 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Henry Davis, Jr., made a motion that this bill is continued until July 9, <br />2012, and ask for certain caveats, there were a number of questions that were asked and <br />th <br />per record of the clerk’s office that those questions will be answered by the 25 of June, <br />th <br />so that they will be able to make an informative decision on the 9 of July. He stated <br />there was a list of questions, he is not going to go back over those questions, and <br />however, those questions need to be answered before the Council can tackle this issue <br />again. He reiterated his motion to continue this bill until July 9, 2012, based upon the <br />answering of questions from the administration and refer back to the Personnel & <br />Finance Committee. Councilmember Schey seconded the motion which carried by a <br />voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br />Councilmember White stated that she would like the record to show to the employees and <br />the citizens that the Human Rights Commission serves, that she, but cannot speak for the <br />other Councilmember’s but she does know that many of them do support a new location <br />for the Human Rights Commission. There are a number of questions that were posed, <br />and they did receive information prior to the 7:00 p.m. meeting. She stated that she tour <br />the building and it is not accessible for anyone coming into that building, employees <br />should not have to work in those conditions at all. She stated that it is not a safe building. <br />Clearly, the Human Rights Commission needs a new location, the question that is before <br />the Council is “what is the right location” She stated having additional time to have all <br />those questions addressed as well as having information for their constituents is really <br />good time spent. She reiterated that she did not want the employees of the Human Rights <br />Commission as well as the citizens of South Bend to think that they are not in support of <br />a new location. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BILL NO. 12-53 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />REQUESTING THAT WESTERN AVENUE BE <br />DESIGNATED AS A TOP PRIORITY FOR <br />REVITALIZATION AND THAT A NEW <br />ACTION PLAN BE DEVELOPED <br /> <br />Councilmember Varner made a motion to continue this bill until the June 25, 2012 <br />meeting of the Council at the request of the petitioner.
