<br />Board met in regular session at 7:45 P.M. All members present.
<br />Hearing ha.d on improvement Resolut ion No. 443 for sidewalk and curb on
<br />south side of Calvert Street from Chapin Street to Franklin Street, In'the City of
<br />South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Upon se -id hearing no remonstrators appear-d. but a -written remonstrance
<br />was filed. The Board after due conIderation decided to defer said hearing until
<br />Tuesday June POth.,1916. at 7:45 P.W.
<br />Hearing has on improvement` resolution No. 444 for the graAinm and gravel

<br />Prairie Avenue to Ewing Ave yin thA„ City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared rand no remonstrances were Piled.
<br />And the Board being fully advised in the premises, de c des that the benefits to property
<br />liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the
<br />sane, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and the reuphn takes final action on said
<br />resolution us originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratfied,
<br />confirmed and approved.
<br />Resolved further, that notices be published on the 9th. day of June 1916
<br />and on the 16th. day of June 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City,
<br />stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements,
<br />up to 10:00 A.M. on the 27th. day of June 1916. The Board reserves° the right to
<br />reject any and all bids.
<br />City Cemetery Sexton Geo. M. Urey filed with the Board financial report
<br />of the City Cemetery fwr the month of May 1916.

<br />KNOW ALL MEAT BY T?ESE PRESPNTS That we, St. Joseph. Heating Company, a
<br />corporation, as principal, and Massachusetts Bonding and insurance Company, a cor-
<br />portion established under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and having
<br />its principal office in Boston the said Common Wealth as surety, are held and bound
<br />to the City of South Bend, Indiana, in the sum of FIVE TITOUSAIND ($5,000.00)Dollars, for
<br />the payment of which, well and truly to be made, we jointly and severally bind our-
<br />selves by these presents.
<br />The condition of the above obligation is such t tlat, whereas, on the
<br />ei gth day of Novembe r,1915, the City of South •Bend, India a. by its Board of Public
<br />Works,, entered into a contract with }.he said St. Joseph Heating Company, which con-
<br />tract was ratified December 13th., 1915 by Ordinance No. 1815 , duly adopted by the
<br />Common Council of said City, by the terms of which contract certain rights and privelege
<br />were granted to said St. Joseph Heating Company, to construct, lay, operate, and
<br />maintain a heating system in the City of South Bend, Indiana. That said contract and
<br />Ordinance is hereby referred to and made a part of tads agreement as effectu dlly
<br />as is copied herein in full; and, whereas, the said St. Joseph Heating Company is
<br />about to commence the construction of said system, THEREFORE,
<br />If the said St. Joseph Heating Company shall faithfully comply with
<br />said contract as above referred to, and fulfill all the conditions and stipulations
<br />therein contained, according to the true intent and makinFT thereof in all respects; then
<br />this obligation shall be void; otherwise to remein in -full force and v!rtue in law.
<br />And in the event that the said city shall in any way corsent to the alteration of
<br />said contract in any respect, such alteration shall not in any way operate to
<br />release the surety on tnis bond.
