RE: PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES FOR MCKINLEY AVENUE AND FREMENT PARK IMPROVEMENTS, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA Dear Sue Ellen, Thank you for contacting Jones Petrie Rafinski (JPR) regarding the above referenced project. We have appreciated being able to be of service to you in, the past and hope to be afforded the opportunity to provide your with our services for this project. UNDERSTANDING OFTHE, ASSIGNMENT The City of South Bend is looking for a consulting firm to assist in the, preparation of Construction Documents for the McKinley Avenue and Fremont Park Improvement projects. It is the desire of the City to have both project be bid out and awarded Iby the end of 2018, The McKinley Avenue project, located between: Tuxedo Drive and 27ffi Street, is to address the existing erosion problems occurring along the north side of the street. The erosion activities have caused the existing roadway edge to collapse and is barricaded. This project is to improve the existing stormwater management by incorporating now concrete curb, drainage structures, bank stabilization and repairing the existing roadway. The Fremont Park project is to incorporate a new concrete curbs and sidewalks to provide better pedestrian and ADA access to the park. The City is looking to construct a sidewalk Wong the east side of Fremont Street from Hamilton Street to Marquette Boulevard and on the north side of Marquette Boulevard from Fremont Street to Olive Street. In addition, the City is interested in providing a signed and painted designated mid -block crossing on Fremont Street to provide pedestrian crossing from, the LaSalle Landing Apartment Community Center to Fremont Park. As part of this project, stormwater management from the streets in the form of curb inlets and possible drywells are to be incorporated into the design. ;*901 161:K Task 1 — Tggographic Survey: The scope of services for this task will be to complete the topographic survey for both projects. JPR has completed topographic survey services for the McKinley Avenue project. However, based on recent discussions with the City additional survey work to the west of the project site will be required to determine the existing drainage patterns.
