� . a <br /> Chief Jeff Walters of SBPD said they are preparing for the school year and expect there <br /> to be loud parties within the next 2 weekends. They are putting on additional patrols in <br /> preparation of this. <br /> Dean Chandler reported that that from August 19 until September 5, 2011, Operation <br /> Pull Over will be in effect. It is funded by a grant and will encompass all police <br /> departments. They will check for sobriety and seat belt usage. Also he encouraged all <br /> students arriving to be aware of the no texting law that became effective July 1, 2011. <br /> AI "Buddy" Kirsits on behalfi of Mike Carrington of the ABC Board expressed the safety <br /> concern for students who are intoxicated. As a fire fighter, Buddy Kirsits, expressed his <br /> concern that intoxicated students may become victims of a more serious condition such <br /> as alcohol poisoning which can be Iife threatening. He stated that he knew of a student <br /> this past summer who died because this and emergency help was not called soon <br /> enough. He emphasized that if anyone knows of a student who has been drinking and <br /> becomes unconscious; they should not to assume they are just sleeping it off and to <br /> please call 911. <br /> When the Notre Dame student council passes out the safety booklets and magnets to <br /> students, they will include the information about safety and taxi usage. Classes will <br /> begin on August 23�a <br /> Council Member Kirsits thanked everyone for attending.
