The scheduling of <br /> inspections is the responsibility of the taxicab company. <br /> Every_ taxicab must be inspected at Least once every six <br /> months .. _If_ a taxicab is inspected by the St . Joseph County <br /> Airport . Authority and the company owner presents a <br /> certificate no less than 14 days after it is issued to the <br /> Central Services Division six months after the Central <br /> Services Division inspects and approves the taxicab, the six <br /> month .inspection requirement is satisfied, if the company <br /> owner _does not present a St . Joseph County Airport Authority <br /> certificate,_ the owner is responsible for having the taxicab <br /> reinspected by the Central. Services Division. The City <br /> Controller shall post on the City_website taxicab inspection <br /> forms , used .by_ the Central Services Division and the Airport <br /> Authority, along.- with the Airport Authorit standards and <br /> requirements for taxicabs for hire. Taxicabs fail to <br /> ass ins ection or for which a scheduled inspection is <br /> missed will be subject to a twenty-five . dollar 25 . 00 <br /> reinspect ion fee which will be due at the time of <br /> reinspection. <br /> (4) Cleanliness Every taxicab operating under this section <br /> shall be kept in a clean and sanitary condition inside the <br /> passenger area and trunk and outside the vehic le taxicab. <br /> The interior of the taxicab must be free of debris and loose <br /> dirt and foul odors . The upholstery must be free of <br /> grease , food ashes dirt and stains and not ripped or <br /> torn. <br /> Body and _operating condition. Vehi e-1 Taxicabs must <br /> also be free from mechanical_ defects, rust and body damage. <br /> All taxicabs that have -any.---body-any.---body damage, mechanical <br /> disrepair, or other damage or defects must be repaired in a <br /> skilled and professional manner before being licensed or <br /> operated as taxicabs within the City. Vans and sport <br /> utility vehicles used as taxicabs must be equipped with a <br /> running board or step to assist passengers entering and <br /> exiting the taxicabs .
