be in s q od operating _ condition, clean, free of rust <br /> and body damage, and in compliance with the requirements of <br /> this section. Each taxicab must be equipped with the <br /> following driver protection and safety features, all of <br /> which shall be in conformance with specifications adopted by <br /> the Board of Public Works : <br /> a. A system enabling the silent activation of a <br /> distress or trouble signal by the driver; and <br /> b. Signs or decals affixed to the taxicab advising <br /> the public that the driver carries no more than a certain sum in <br /> change . The sum specified shall be between five dollars ($5 . 00) <br /> and thirty dollars ($30 . 00) . <br /> The equipment required by this section shall be <br /> maintained in good working order at all times . The <br /> taxicab license for any vehicle taxicab in violation of <br /> this section shall be subject to immediate suspension, <br /> and such vehicle shall be subject to impoundment as <br /> provided hereafter. Members ' of the Police Department, <br /> the De artment of Code Enforcement ersons with <br /> special police commissions issued by the Board of <br /> Public Safety.,. or the Central Services Division may <br /> conduct unannounced inspections of taxicabs in order to <br /> ensure compliance with this section' s Provisions, and <br /> shall re ort an noncom liance to the Controller. <br /> (2) License issuance upon compliance . When the Departmei t <br /> e, Central Services Division and the Bureau of Weights and <br /> Measures finds that a -eh±-com taxicab is in safe good <br /> operating condition, is in compliance with the requirements <br /> of this section, and has met the standards established by <br /> this section, the Controller shall issue a veh-e-le taxicab <br /> license to the owner or driver of the veh-ic� taxicab. The <br /> license shall state the authorized seating capacity of the <br /> vehicle. <br /> (3) Periodic inspections . Every taxicab operating under <br /> this section shall be periodically inspected by the <br /> Bepartment of Central Services Division at such intervals as <br /> necessary to ensure the maintenance of safe good operating <br /> conditions . in addition no license or renewal of license <br /> 5 <br />
