South Bend Central Development Area <br />() continued... <br />Mr. Schefineyer: My interest is in seeing the <br />area and the site developed to its highest and <br />best use. To that extent I've looked at both <br />plans as they were reported in the paper. It <br />appears to me that the one that has the <br />greatest financial feasibility is the larger <br />project. <br />Mr. Keen: So that indicates that you don't <br />have any fiiture desires to develop anything <br />on that site or participate in anything on that <br />site? <br />Mr. Schefineyer: No. My development <br />years are over. <br />Mr. Hojnacki: Mike, in a very serious way, <br />you have the old Wharf site that John Phair <br />owns. That's going to be sitting there vacant, <br />in your conception. Do you have ideas or <br />thoughts or plans to do with it? <br />Mr. Keen: VUe don't own that site. <br />Mr. Hojnacki: Well, certainly whatever <br />happens there is going to affect your project. <br />Mr. Keen: A couple of ideas. Quite frankly, <br />we think that the office complex that John <br />has propo sed there, if he did not put the <br />cutout there on Colfax Street, which we don't <br />think is a very good idea because what that <br />tends to do is cutouts stop pedestrian traffic <br />and they make dams, so if John were to move <br />his cutout around the back and put his office <br />complex right here, we think that having an <br />47 <br />
