South Bend Central Development Area <br />() continued... <br />need more time to think about it, my view <br />is that we'd need to invite you back to <br />another public meeting and have you give <br />your answers then. Our hope is that you <br />understand that we sent you the questions <br />in advance. We sent similar questions to <br />the competing bidder. We asked for those <br />answers to be given to our questions, not <br />"we can't answer that because it's part of a <br />later process." To be frank with you, I <br />think you're being non-responsive, here. <br />We've tried to adhere to what's required <br />public policy and you haven't been much <br />help. What I would like you to do is <br />either respond today, or, if you need more <br />time, come to another public meeting and <br />be specifically responsive to the questions <br />that have been given to you in advance. <br />I'm speaking only for myself, but I know <br />that when the Commission discussed the <br />idea of inviting the bidders into answer <br />more questions, it was our idea that we <br />wanted to go through this process in <br />public and get specific answers that would <br />become part of our decision-making <br />process. <br />Mr. Bergeman asked, in the case of <br />several of these issues, are we able to <br />work with staff'? For example, like the <br />East Bank Walkway. I can see structural <br />steel at the bottom of those piers. I know <br />that it needs attention. So, as part of our <br />development, that needs to be addressed. <br />Architecturally, it will become our front <br />street. It will become the sidewalk by <br />which people enter our development. So <br />36 <br />
