South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -March 10, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. South Bend Central Development Area
() continued...
• Provide soil borings
• 10 year tax abatement
• Keep Fire Arts as permanent residents
in current location
• Development partnership wherein city
participates in risk and reward
• Phase I environmental testing
• Collaboration in "People and Places of
Mill Race Isle Walking Tour"
Would you proceed with your
development o~ if the city agrees to all
of the above? If no, please state which of
the above you would not require.
Written Answer: No. Without having the
details of what the city is willing to
complete, Eco-Urban Collaborative
cannot really determine which it may or
may not require. Eco-Urban would look
forward to negotiating with the city on a
good faith basis to reach an agreement
that would best serve both parties as well
as contribute to the success of the project.
It can say that it could not continue with
the project if Sycamore Street were to be
closed or overhead walkways were
constructed. Eco-Urban would also be
very concerned about any plans to replace
Fire Arts, Inc. with some other use since it
is fundamental to its vision of developing
Mill Race Isle as a cultural arts district
and destination. While not absolutely
necessary, Eco-Urban would like to
reiterate its desire to rename Colfax
32
