South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -March 10, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. South Bend Central Development Area
() continued...
5. Description of proposed development -jobs to
be created or retained as the result of
improvements on the Site
Your proposal refers to "two creative
businesses...employing 25 people" on the
site.
Does this mean that 25 new jobs will be
created as the result of your development,
or are the 25 people already employed by
the two businesses at their present
locations? If the latter is the case and
your development does not proceed, will
some or all of the 25 jobs be lost?
Written Answer: The two creative
businesses with whom Eco-Urban is
working are both in need of new space.
The jobs to which Eco-Urban refers are of
people already employed at their present
locations. If this development does not
proceed on this site Eco-Urban will need
to find another. If that turns out to be
somewhere other than South Bend, then
there is a chance that some or all of those
jobs will be lost since both these
businesses are very interested in
relocating in the kind eco-urban
development proposed.
Mr. Keen added that in addition to jobs
related to the commercial offices in Phase
I, Phase II calls for some retail which
should bring additional jobs to the site.
21
