West Washington/Chapin Development Area <br />() continued... <br />West Washington-Chapin Development <br />Area. Now that there are funds, we would <br />like to employ South Bend Heritage to <br />carry out a number of activities in that area. <br />This agreement covers 2006 and 2007. It <br />contains a termination clause. The scope <br />of activities includes the renovation of the <br />front section of the Engman Natatorium, <br />improvements to the tree lawn of Oil <br />Express, and survey and physical <br />enhancements related to the Dr. Martin <br />Luther King Jr. Drive. The budget for <br />those items to be completed in 2006 is <br />$345,100. In 2007 the TIF revenue is <br />expected to be $208,734. The agreement <br />calls for South Bend Heritage to acquire as <br />many as three properties (Hurwich Iron <br />Works, Public Housing Authority's <br />maintenance building, and a small <br />industrial building just west of Oil Express, <br />east of Hurwich Iron) as there are funds to <br />acquire. <br />Mr. King clarified that the agreement does <br />limit the amount of the contract to the <br />amount of TIF funds available. Mr. Inks <br />confirmed that that is correct. Since the <br />City holds some other properties in the <br />WWCDA, we will reserve $10,000 for <br />maintenance of those properties as well. <br />Ms. Greene noted that the agreement <br />contemplates that South Bend Heritage will <br />be acting as the Commission's agent in <br />accomplishing certain activities.
