South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -February 3, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. South Bend Central Development Area
(} continued...
Ms. Laurent noted that there is significant
interest on the part of the pubic related to
the direction that will be taken with this
riverfront property from a land use and
design perspective. The complexity of the
myriad issues brought into distinction with
these proposals need to be addressed
carefully and should take into account
public input.
Ms. Laurent noted that staff must still do
its due diligence in verifying the financial
ability of each developer to complete the
project. She asked the Commission what it
would like staff to do next.
Mr. King noted that his reading of both
proposals had generated a long list of
questions about each of them. He would
like both developers to attend the
February 17 or March 3 meeting of the
Commission to answer his and any other
questions about their proposals.
In order to compile a comprehensive list of
questions for that meeting, Ms. Laurent
will provide the Commissioners with her
list of questions. They will add to that list
any additional questions they have. The
list will then be submitted to the developers
so they will be prepared with answers.
Ms. Greene noted that both bids received
by the Commission were non-conforming
in that they did not meet the bid
28
