Redevelopment Commission <br />End of Year Progress Report <br />December 19, 2003 <br />Studebaker Corridor Proiect <br />Completed second and third phase of Oliver demolition - 935,000 s.f. and underground <br />foundations. <br />2. Completed interior demolition of Oliver boilerhouse. <br />3. Completed exterior renovation of Oliver boilerhouse - masonry stabilization and repair, <br />smokestack repair, new windows, new roof. <br />4. Sold first parcel of land in Oliver Industrial Park. Rose Fuel & Materials purchased <br />boilerhouse and 4.84 acres of land. Rose is constructing it's office in former boilerhouse, <br />15,000 s.f. maintenance building and storage yard. Project to be complete in April 2004. <br />Agreed to sell land in Oliver Industrial park to Hill Truck Sales for expansion of their <br />Sample Street business. <br />6. Constructed Oliver Plow Court including extension of sewer, water, gas and fiber optic <br />lines. <br />7. Prepared English and Spanish versions of 2003 Studebaker /Oliver Redevelopment <br />Project update and distributed it to city departments, public offices, local libraries, <br />mailing list of about 500. <br />8. Translated 2002 Studebaker /Oliver Redevelopment Project Report into Spanish and <br />distributed it to public locations throughout South Bend. <br />9. Withdrew application for IDFA Petroleum Remediation Grant Incentive program for <br />source area at stamping plant. Applied for and received $48,270 brownfield site <br />assessment grant from Indiana Development Finance Authority to further define the <br />nature and extent of the source area. Resubmitted the application for Petroleum <br />Remediation Grant incentive program on October 31". IDEM /IDFA have not completed <br />their review yet. Should hear in early 2004. <br />10. Received $200,000 grant from U.S. EPA for remediation of groundwater related to source <br />at stamping plant. Remediation to take place in late 2004. <br />11. Met with IDEM about Voluntary Remediation Program. Agreed to revise our VRP <br />applications to have a total of four for the Studebaker /Oliver project area. They are Area <br />A Soils, Area B Soils, Area C Soils and Areas A, B, C groundwater. Submitted two new <br />VRP applications. <br />
