South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting — December 17, 2004
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
F. Airport Economic Development Area
(1) continued...
sale of the building to another party. At
present, Advantage Puck has no location to
relocate too.
Advantage Puck has asked to use the
Commission owned property at 1743
Commerce Drive on an interim basis, for a
term not to exceed August 31, 2005.
Advantage Puck has indicated they will make
a monthly donation to the Commission which
will be subsequently used to defray the cost
of demolition. This arrangement will allow a
local business to stay in operation and
provide them with time to look for a new
location and continue their operations. The
staff will work with the real estate agents
associated with Advantage Puck to help them
transition into a new facility before the close
of the lease for the Commission site.
Staff requests the Commission to authorize
use of the building at 1743 Commerce Drive
by Advantage Puck for a period not to
exceed August 31, 2005.
Mr. King asked if absent this arrangement
this vacant building would sit vacant during
this period and require holding costs. Mr.
Schalliol responded that that is correct.
Mr. King also asked if Advantage Puck
would have to relocate outside South Bend if
the Commission did not provide use of this
building. Mr. Schalliol responded that they
have been asked to move by December 31
and with no other options immediately
22
