South Bend Central Development Area <br />(2) continued... <br />Upon a motion by Mr. King, seconded by <br />COMMISSION REJECTED ALL BIDS RECEIVED ON <br />Mr. Downes and unanimously carried, the <br />THE HOTEL LASALLE AND ADJACENT PARKING <br />Commission rejected all bids received on the <br />LOT; AUTHORIZED STAFF TO BEGIN <br />Hotel LaSalle and adjacent parking lot; <br />NEGOTIATIONS WITH INTERESTED PARTIES FOR <br />authorized staff to begin negotiations with <br />THE DISPOSITION OF THE PROPERTY; AND THAT <br />THOSE NEGOTIATIONS BE SUBJECT TO THE <br />interested parties for the disposition of the <br />RESTRICTION THAT NO SALE BE MADE AT A PRICE <br />property; and that those negotiations be <br />LESS THAN THE OFFERING PRICE FOR A PERIOD <br />subject to the restriction that no sale be made <br />OF THIRTY (30) DAYS BEGINNING FEBRUARY 18, <br />at a price less than the offering price for a <br />2005. <br />period of thirty (30) days beginning <br />February 18, 2005. <br />(3) Commission approval requested for <br />proposal for roof repairs in the South <br />Bend Central Development Area. (237 N. <br />Michigan Street, former Hotel LaSalle) <br />Mr. Mathia reported that on December 3, <br />2004 the Redevelopment Commission <br />authorized staff to carry out repairs on the <br />Hotel LaSalle's roof up to an amount of <br />$15,000 on a time and material basis and to <br />hire a roofing consultant to assist with the <br />work. A consultant, Mr. Robert Humbarger <br />of ConSpecT Services, Incorporated, was <br />contacted. Mr. Humbarger solicited <br />quotations from four (4) firms and submitted <br />them to staff for review. Mr. Humbarger <br />recommended that the low bidder, KRC <br />Roofing and Sheet Metal, be awarded the bid <br />and staff concurred. <br />KRC's bid contains a base bid price of <br />$4,950. It also contains three alternates <br />totaling $2,950. The alternates involve <br />making repairs to the building structure that <br />16 <br />
