August 14, 2046 Utilities Committee Meeting <br />Page 2 <br />in response to a question from Council Member Puzzello, Dr. Dillon stated that <br />the city has experienced theft of such containers in various rental areas. A <br />replacement fee of $37-$3$ is charged with the actual cost being $50.00. <br />In response to a question from Council Member Kuspa, Dr. Dillon stated that the <br />trash containers do not have any air holes so that rodents would not be attracted <br />to them. <br />In response to a question from Council Member White, Dr. Dillon stated that they <br />could not project how many new customers they may have. <br />In response to comments from Council Member Pfeifer, Dr. Dillon stated that <br />they do work with Code Enforcement in retrieving containers from abandoned <br />properties. <br />In response to comments from Dr, Varner, Dr. Dillon stated that the City <br />Controller requested for a projection for replacement costs, and that he sees a <br />cost of $25,000 for that. He noted that the containers have a 10-year warranty <br />and each has a serial number on them. <br />Council Member Dieter noted that he drives the alleys, and believes that the <br />program is working very welt. <br />In response to comments from Council Member Kirsits, Dr. Dillon stated that <br />there is a fee of $5.00 far a 2d container at apartments. He added that he would <br />work with the Fire Department with regard to having the smaller containers which <br />are currently at the various fire stations traded in for larger containers. <br />In response to a question from Council President Rouse, City Controller Fanello <br />stated that the sewer, and the band and interest funds would be used for these <br />appropriations. <br />Council Member Kuspa made a motion, seconded by Counci! Member Pfeifer <br />that Bill No. 44-06 be recommended favorably to Council The motion passed. <br />Bill No. 45-06 Appropria#ion Ordinance: <br />Council Member Kirists called for a presentation on Bill No. 45-06 which would <br />appropriate $159,145 from Fund # 649 so that the first interest payment on the <br />2006 Sewage Works Revenue Bond could be made. <br />Dr. John J, Dillon of Environmental Services made the formal presentation. He <br />noted that amount reflects the interest which is due. <br />
