Utilities Committee <br />2fl06 South Bend Common Council <br />The August 14, 2006 joint meeting of the Utilities Committee of the South Bend <br />Common Council was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member AI <br />"Buddy" Kirsits at 3:31 p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room. <br />Persons in attendance included Council Members Pfeifer, Keliy, Varner, Kuspa, <br />Kirsits, Rouse, Dieter, White and Puzzello, Citizen Member Ed Talley, Assistant <br />City Attorney Ann-Carol Nash, Citizen Member Martha Lewis, City Clerk John <br />Voorde, City Controller M. Catherine Fanello, City Attorney Charles Leone, Paul <br />Kempf, Dr. John J. Dillon, Jamie Loo of the South Bend Tribune and Kathleen <br />Cekanski-1=arrand, Council Attorney. <br />Council Member Kirsits noted that the members of the Utilities Committee <br />include Council Members Kuspa, Puzzello, Pfeifer and himself; and Citizen <br />Member Gene Pendl. <br />Bill No. 43-OS Appropriation Ordinance: <br />Council Member Kirists called for a presentation on Bill No. 43-06 which would <br />appropriate $186,781 from Fund # 641 to pay costs for increased water works <br />management fees. <br />Dr. John J. Dillon of Environmental Services made the formal presentation. He <br />noted that earlier this year, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission increased <br />the revenue requirement. The sum to be appropriated reflects that increase. <br />Council Member Puzzello made a motion, seconded by Council Member Pfeifer <br />that Bill No. 43-06 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br />Bill No. 44-06 A ro riation Ordinance: <br />Council Member Kirists called for a presentation an Bill No. 44-06 which would <br />appropriate $60,365 from Fund # 611 to pay costs for additional solid waste <br />containers. <br />Dr. Jahn J. Dillon of Environmental Services made the formal presentation. He <br />noted that the requested monies would be used to purchase 1,176 additional <br />trash containers which could be used to replace current ones or those which <br />have been lost or stolen, <br />
