Utilities Committee 2fl06 South Bend Common Council The August 14, 2006 joint meeting of the Utilities Committee of the South Bend Common Council was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member AI "Buddy" Kirsits at 3:31 p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Pfeifer, Keliy, Varner, Kuspa, Kirsits, Rouse, Dieter, White and Puzzello, Citizen Member Ed Talley, Assistant City Attorney Ann-Carol Nash, Citizen Member Martha Lewis, City Clerk John Voorde, City Controller M. Catherine Fanello, City Attorney Charles Leone, Paul Kempf, Dr. John J. Dillon, Jamie Loo of the South Bend Tribune and Kathleen Cekanski-1=arrand, Council Attorney. Council Member Kirsits noted that the members of the Utilities Committee include Council Members Kuspa, Puzzello, Pfeifer and himself; and Citizen Member Gene Pendl. Bill No. 43-OS Appropriation Ordinance: Council Member Kirists called for a presentation on Bill No. 43-06 which would appropriate $186,781 from Fund # 641 to pay costs for increased water works management fees. Dr. John J. Dillon of Environmental Services made the formal presentation. He noted that earlier this year, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission increased the revenue requirement. The sum to be appropriated reflects that increase. Council Member Puzzello made a motion, seconded by Council Member Pfeifer that Bill No. 43-06 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. Bill No. 44-06 A ro riation Ordinance: Council Member Kirists called for a presentation an Bill No. 44-06 which would appropriate $60,365 from Fund # 611 to pay costs for additional solid waste containers. Dr. Jahn J. Dillon of Environmental Services made the formal presentation. He noted that the requested monies would be used to purchase 1,176 additional trash containers which could be used to replace current ones or those which have been lost or stolen,
