South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—March 22, 2011 <br /> 7. PROGRESS REPORTS (CONT.) <br /> C. Other <br /> Mr. Inks noted that the fountain in front of the <br /> Morris Civic needs repair. The Morris previously <br /> requested the Commission consider funding repairs <br /> to the fountain. An estimate was secured in the <br /> amount $9,200 to have the fountain motors rebuilt. <br /> No proposal is available for review today; <br /> however, the Morris would like repairs to begin <br /> before the next meeting so the fountain can be <br /> operational on time this spring. Mr. Inks asked that <br /> the Commission authorize proceeding with the <br /> repairs and ratify the proposal at its next meeting. <br /> Mr. Downes noted that there is still outstanding the <br /> question of whether the fountain makes sense long <br /> term and whether these repairs might be wasted. <br /> Mr. Inks responded that Mr. Andres had suggested <br /> another study he would like done for the broader <br /> Jon Hunt Plaza, including the fountain. We haven't <br /> been ready to proceed with that, but we would like <br /> to go ahead with fountain repairs. <br /> Upon a motion by Mr. Varner, seconded by Mr. COMMISSION APPROVED OF A NOT-TO-EXCEED <br /> Downes and unanimously carried, the Commission AMOUNT OF$10,000 FOR REPAIR OF THE <br /> approved of a not-to-exceed amount of$10,000 for FOUNTAIN IN FRONT OF THE MORRIS CIVIC <br /> PERFORMING ARTS CENTER <br /> repair of the fountain in front of the Morris Civic <br /> Performing Arts Center. <br /> 8.
