Tuesday, June I7th. , 1930, 123 <br />N ET YORK CENTR.AAL RAILROAD COIF P10TY <br />(West of Buf fa to ) <br />VESTERN DIVISION <br />PROPOSED GRADE SEPARATION <br />DIVISION WALNUT AND CHERRY STREETS <br />SOUTH BEND INDIANA. <br />• Specifications and estimate of cost cif all work in connection with <br />the alteration and elevation of the New York Central Railroad Company's main line <br />tracks a the it intersection with Division St. Walnut St. Cherry St. and Arnold St., <br />j�and the alteration and elevation of the New York Central Railroad Company's connecting <br />track to the Mi ch igan Central Ra ilr oad 'at its intersection with Division St. and the <br />j construction of a subway under the main line tracks of the New York Central Railroad <br />!j at the intersection of Division and Vfalnut Sts., and a pedestrian subway ar Cherry St. <br />except pavement, sidewalk, drainage and approaches, in compliance with Declaratory <br />Resolution passed April I5th. , I930, requiring the filing of plans, specifications and <br />I� estimates under Modified Resolution No.5. <br />The work to be done is indicated on the following plans: - <br />General Pla ,n Scale I"L 50' da ted Ilay 24 1930 <br />General Bk fig&^P1vn, No.B_9267. <br />Falsework Plan No. B-9262. <br />Masonry Plans No.B-9265 (3 sheets) <br />Steel Plans No.B-9266 (8 sheets) <br />The work included in plans, specification and estimates prepared by <br />the New York Central. Railroad is as f o11 ows : - <br />i <br />Raise the main line tracks of the N. Y. C. R. R. beginning on the <br />crest at about station 4476/47, thence ascending easterly on a 0.3% grade to about <br />• station 4500/90, thence on an ascending grade of 0.072%'to an intersection with present <br />grade of tracks at about station 45I4/30; suitable verticle curves being used at <br />changes in grade as shown on general plan dated May 24,I930. Raise the tracks of the <br />New York Central connecting track to the PGIi chigan Central Railroad to the new grade <br />of the main line tracks at their crossing, using I.0% runoff grades with suitable <br />vertical curves. <br />At the intersection of Division Street and vValnut Street with the � <br />j! main line tracks of the New York Central Railroad Company the surfaces of said <br />j Division street and said Walnut Street shall be depressed nine and seventy-six one <br />hundredths (9.76) feet below the average grade level of said streets at the end of <br />existing approach grades as now maintained; said depression at the lowest point shall <br />not be lower then elevation forty-nine' and ninety three one hundredths (49.93) when <br />• referred to City of South Bend llatum, and eleva.tion one hundred and thirty-five and <br />!fourteen one hundredths (I35.14) when referred ti N. Y. C. R. R. datum,) Bridges for <br />j five tracks to be I-beam. construction rath c onerete deck and steel facia girders sup- <br />ported on concrete abutments at the street lines,, and steel clums at the curb li#.es of <br />Walnut Street and at the center line and curb lines of Division St. , providing 52 <br />j feet between curbs and two I4-foot sidewalk spaces fo* Division Street and 30 feet <br />between curbs and two 9-foot sidewalk spaces for p alnut Street with a minumum under - <br />clearance of I3 feet. Angle of crossing 25 ,-06'-24" with Division Street. <br />At the intersection of Division Street with the track of the New <br />�i Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Railroad Company and the track of The New York Central <br />. Ra-.lroad Company's connecting track to the i=ichigan Central Ra ilroad, said tracks of <br />ij bath railroads being contiguous. , the surface of said Division 6treet and the tracks <br />of the said railroad companies shall be raised not more than three and thirty-one <br />one -hundredths (3.3I) feet above the top bf rail grade of the now existing ivew York <br />,!Central Railroad Company's connecting track to the Tdjichigan Central Railroad as now <br />maintained at said crossing. <br />At the intersection of Cherry Street with the main line tracks of <br />the New York gent ral Ra it roa d Co mpany a p or ti on o f the our fa c e of sa i d C he rr y Stre et <br />I! shall be depressed to accomodate the construction of pedestrian subway, the floor of <br />(which shall not be less than elevation fifty-four and fifty-nine one hundredths <br />;I <br />(54,59) when referred_ to City of South Bend datum and elevation one hundred. and <br />• j thirty-nine and eighty one -hundredths (139.80) when referred to INT. Y. C. R. R. datum, <br />the said pedestrian subway to be reinf creed concrete and I-beam construction and shall <br />jhave an inside width of eight (8) feet and an inside height of eight (8) feet. <br />At the intersection of Arnold Utreet with the main line tracks <br />of the New York Central Railroad Company the surface of said Arnold "treet and the <br />tracks of said railroad company shall be raised not more than one and one-half (I*) <br />feet abive the top of rail grade of The New York Central Railroad Company's main line <br />tracks as now maintained at said crossing, <br />Cost of all work included in N. Y. C. R. R. estim to to be divided <br />New York Central Railroad 65%; City of South Bend 35%. <br />-• <br />
