6/26/72 <br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - SCOTTSDALE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request <br />of Edward C. Hilgendorf to hold a parade in the Scottsdale area, sponsored <br />by the Scottsdale Community Club, Inc. on July 4, 1972. <br />LETTER FROM FRANK SCHMIDT - WEEDS IN ALLEY <br />A letter from Frank G. Schmidt complaining about weeds in the alley running <br />from St. Vincent Street to an alley running from Foster Street, was re- <br />ferred to the Health Department. <br />LETTER FROM COUNCILMAN PARENT - SIDEWALKS <br />A letter was received from Councilman Parent requesting that the Board <br />conduct a study of the need for sidewalks in those parts of the city <br />which do not have them. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, this <br />was referred to the Engineering Department. <br />LETTER FROM COUNCILMAN SZYMKOWIAK - TRAIN WHISTLES <br />A letter was received from Councilman Szymkow]ak complaining about the <br />use of train whistles in the city of South Bend. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, this was referred to the Police Department. <br />CONTRACTS FOR GASOLINE <br />Contracts for the purchase of gasoline for the city were extended <br />through December 31, 1972 upon motion made, seconded and carried, with <br />the Gulf Oil Company, and Standard Oil Division of the America] Oil <br />Company. <br />PROJECT COMPLETION PROJECT -MAINTENANCE BOND -IRONWOOD ROAD SEWER EXTENSION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried a project completion project <br />affidavit was approved by the Board for the Ironwood Road Sewer Extension, <br />by Portage Realty Corporation. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Maintenance Bond was approved <br />for the Ironwood Road Sewer Extension for a period of three years. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9, 6/26/72 <br />WHEREAS, The Board of Public Works and Safety, has found it necessary <br />in the best interest of the public safety and welfare to <br />construct certain street improvements in Bendix Drive between <br />Lincoln Way West (U.S.20) and the Chicago, South Shore and <br />South Bend Railroad Crossing, and <br />WHERAS, the improvements to the aforesaid street are compatible with the <br />urban Area Transportation Study, and <br />WHEREAS, the costs for these certain improvements are to be prorated at <br />25% to the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund and 75% to the <br />Local Roads and Streets Account, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety has the authority to make <br />such improvements as provided by the General Assembly, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works and Safety orders the <br />Department of Public Works to prepare the plans, specifications, <br />cost estimates, secure the necessary right-of-way, permits, <br />appropriations, and to seek bids for and to construct said Bendix <br />Drive between Lincoln Way West (U.S.20) and the Chicago, South <br />Shore and South Bend Railroad Crossing Improvement <br />ATTEST; s/ Freda G.
