6/26/72 REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - SCOTTSDALE Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of Edward C. Hilgendorf to hold a parade in the Scottsdale area, sponsored by the Scottsdale Community Club, Inc. on July 4, 1972. LETTER FROM FRANK SCHMIDT - WEEDS IN ALLEY A letter from Frank G. Schmidt complaining about weeds in the alley running from St. Vincent Street to an alley running from Foster Street, was re- ferred to the Health Department. LETTER FROM COUNCILMAN PARENT - SIDEWALKS A letter was received from Councilman Parent requesting that the Board conduct a study of the need for sidewalks in those parts of the city which do not have them. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, this was referred to the Engineering Department. LETTER FROM COUNCILMAN SZYMKOWIAK - TRAIN WHISTLES A letter was received from Councilman Szymkow]ak complaining about the use of train whistles in the city of South Bend. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, this was referred to the Police Department. CONTRACTS FOR GASOLINE Contracts for the purchase of gasoline for the city were extended through December 31, 1972 upon motion made, seconded and carried, with the Gulf Oil Company, and Standard Oil Division of the America] Oil Company. PROJECT COMPLETION PROJECT -MAINTENANCE BOND -IRONWOOD ROAD SEWER EXTENSION Upon motion made, seconded and carried a project completion project affidavit was approved by the Board for the Ironwood Road Sewer Extension, by Portage Realty Corporation. Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Maintenance Bond was approved for the Ironwood Road Sewer Extension for a period of three years. RESOLUTION NO. 9, 6/26/72 WHEREAS, The Board of Public Works and Safety, has found it necessary in the best interest of the public safety and welfare to construct certain street improvements in Bendix Drive between Lincoln Way West (U.S.20) and the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroad Crossing, and WHERAS, the improvements to the aforesaid street are compatible with the urban Area Transportation Study, and WHEREAS, the costs for these certain improvements are to be prorated at 25% to the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund and 75% to the Local Roads and Streets Account, and WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety has the authority to make such improvements as provided by the General Assembly, therefore BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works and Safety orders the Department of Public Works to prepare the plans, specifications, cost estimates, secure the necessary right-of-way, permits, appropriations, and to seek bids for and to construct said Bendix Drive between Lincoln Way West (U.S.20) and the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroad Crossing Improvement ATTEST; s/ Freda G.
