He reiterated that the action of the <br />Board today will in no way do anything to preclude a <br />future combined communication center. <br />Mr. Voorde suggested that the matter be referred to the <br />Common Council Public Safety Committee for comments and <br />a determination of whether or not to go county -wide at <br />this time. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised Mr. Voorde that he too had dis- <br />cussions with the Sheriff on this matter almost two months' <br />ago and he felt it would-be in the City's best interests to <br />get its own "house" in order first before proceeding with a <br />combined communications center with the County. <br />Mr. Hill stated that the Board will work with the Common <br />Council and the County in discussions about the combined <br />communications center. <br />In response to a question asked by Marchmont Kovas, Mr. <br />Kernan stated that the money for the communications center <br />would come from the General Obligation bond issue interest <br />earned on investment of general obligation bond funds and <br />one other source to complete the funding. He stated that <br />the City still needs to secure $26,000 to complete the <br />financing for the communications center. He stated that <br />work on the project will not begin until the money is <br />appropriated and that an appropriation bill will be <br />presented to the Common Council for first reading at <br />their next regular meeting. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above bid of ComCenter Corporation in the <br />amount of $142,949.00 was awarded subject to funding. <br />AWARD BID - RECONSTRUCTION OF RADIO ROOM (OLD CITY JAIL) <br />IN THE MSF BUILDING AT 701 WEST SAMPLE STREET <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. David.A. Wells, P.E., Manager, <br />Bureau of Design and Administration, recommended the Board <br />award the low bid of $84,000.00, submitted on March 7, 1983,, <br />by the Casteel Construction Corporation, 23086 West Ireland <br />Road, P.O. Box 628, South Bend, Indiana for the reconstruction <br />of the old city jail in the MSF Building at 701 West Sample <br />Street. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid in the amount of <br />$84,000.00 was awarded subject to funding. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />BRONSON STREET LANDSCAPING (MONROE PARK AREA) <br />Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, Public Works, in a <br />letter to the Board requested permission to advertise for <br />sealed bids for landscaping improvements on Bronson Street <br />in the Monroe Park Area. Upon a motion made by Mr. - <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, therequest <br />was approved with sealed bids to be received by the Board <br />on April 4, 1983. <br />APPROVE SOIL SURVEY INVESTIGATION PROPOSAL <br />(LOGAN STREET AND HICKORY ROAD IMPROVEMENT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board a Proposal from <br />Shilts, Graves & Associates, Inc., 1103 South Bend Avenue, <br />South Bend, Indiana to conduct a�soil survey investigation <br />in conjunction with the proposed improvements to Logan <br />Street - Hickory Road.
