REGULAR MEETING MARCH 14, 1983 <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS <br />A list containing twenty-nine (29) lots ordered cleaned <br />by the Director of the Department of Code Enforcement <br />was submitted. It was noted that property owners had <br />been advised to clean-up the lots and had failed to do <br />so. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the environmental list was filed. <br />FILING OF HUMANE SOCIETY ANNUAL REPORT & MONTHLY REPORTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that the 1982 Annual <br />Report of the Humane Society indicated that the total <br />number of animals handled by the Humane Society in 1982 <br />was 12,518. The percentage of animals handled in 1982 was <br />broken down as follows: <br />County:. 26% South Bend: 48% Mishawaka: 19% Others: 7% <br />PERCENTAGE BASED ON CALLS <br />County: 22% South Bend: <br />COMPLAINTS & EMERGENCY <br />57% Mishawaka: 18% Others: 3% <br />Additionally, the annual report indicated a total of 3,514 <br />dogs handled in 1982, 1,748 cats and 758 other animals for <br />a total of 6,020 animals handled for the city of South Bend <br />in 1982. <br />Additionally submitted were monthly reports for the months of <br />December, 1982, January, 1983 and February 1983. A brief <br />summary is as follows: <br />DECEMBER <br />Dogs handled: 295 <br />Cats handled: 120 <br />Other animals handled: 21 <br />TOTAL: 436 <br />JANUARY <br />Dogs handled: 258 <br />Cats handled: 102 <br />Other animals handled: 15 <br />TOTAL: 375 <br />FEBRUARY <br />Dogs handled: 272 <br />Cats handled: 87 <br />Other animals handled: 13 <br />TOTAL: 372 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the above reports were filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Elroy J. Kelzenberg, Director of the Michiana Area CETA <br />Consortium submitted a report indicating purchase orders <br />totalling fifty-one (51) to be paid. Chief Deputy <br />Controller Sherrie L. Petz submitted Claim Docket No. 4888 <br />through 5547 and recommended approval. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill.and carried, the <br />reports were filed and the claims approved. <br />
