REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 29, 1990 <br />177 <br />I <br />DENY REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 518 E. KEASEY <br />STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the request submitted to the Board on April <br />2, 1990 to purchase the above referred to City owned property. <br />At this time it is the recommendation of the Department of <br />Economic Development that the request to purchase be denied. Mr. <br />Jon R. Hunt, Executive Director, Department of Economic <br />Development, advised that the Department, has, over many years, <br />been acquiring properties by tax sale in this immediate <br />neighborhood. These properties are necessary to provide a basis <br />for possible future redevelopment efforts in the southeast. <br />Therefore, they request that the sale of this property be <br />denied. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the request be denied. Ms. Humphreys seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, <br />recommended that the following Contractors and Excavation Bonds <br />be approved: <br />CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />- James Griffin <br />- R.P. Morin Concrete <br />EXCAVATION BOND <br />Effective 5/21/90 <br />Effective 5/23/90 <br />- Exploration Technology, Inc. Effective 5/22/90 <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the above <br />referred to bonds were approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the following five (5) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: No Parking <br />LOCATION: On Columbia - 1200 block <br />Street is 20' wide <br />REMARKS: No Parking both sides will <br />keep traffic flowing <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />3. NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />4. NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />Handicap Parking Space <br />1302 North College <br />Pursuant to request submitted to <br />the Board of Public Works on May <br />14, 1990 by Mr. A. W. Wright <br />40 MPH Speed Limit <br />Inwood Road to 2nd Drive west of <br />Ironwood <br />Speed Study results <br />Restricted Residential Parking Zone <br />7 a.m. to 4 p.m. <br />Ewing Avenue - Fellows to Erskine <br />(south side) <br />Warrants for restricted residential <br />parking zone met <br />
