05") <br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 26, 1994 <br />Further, Mr. Caldwell advised the favorable recommendations were received from the Engineering <br />Department, subject to all utilities and easements, Area Plan Commission, Department of <br />Community and Economic Development, South Bend Fire Department, Department of Sanitation, <br />Police Department, and the City Attorney's Office. Mrs. Manier made a motion to approve the alley <br />vacation. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />Mr. Willis Collins, 1410 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, was present, and informed the <br />Board that he opposes the alley vacation, as the entrance to his property would be prohibited if the <br />alley were to be vacated. Mrs. Manier suggested that Mr. Collins attend the City Council meeting <br />to voice his concerns of this matter. <br />APPROVE CONSENT TO ANNEXATION AND WAIVER OF RIGHT TO REMONSTRATE <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of a Consent to Annexation and Waiver of Right to <br />Remonstrate as submitted by Donald and Altha Jesswein. The Consent indicates that in <br />consideration for permission to tap into the public sanitary sewer system of the City, to provide <br />sanitary sewer service to 26240 W. Edison Road, South Bend, Indiana, (Key #21-1052-0994), <br />Donald and Altha Jesswein waives and releases any and all right to remonstrate against or oppose <br />any pending or future annexation of the property by the City of South Bend. Therefore, Mrs. Manier <br />made a motion that the Consent be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS APPROVED: <br />-TO JANICE HILDABRIDLE OF BENEFIT FARM SANCTUARY TO CONDUCT ANNUAL <br />WALK-A-THON - OCTOBER 2, 1994 <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the above referred to request, which was submitted to the Board on July <br />18, 1994, has been reviewed by the appropriate City departments and bureaus and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the request be approved. Mrs. Manier <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT RADIO UPGRADE <br />Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, Department of Public Works, requested that the Board advertise <br />for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Leszczynski noted that this new system <br />would replace three (3) UHF repeater/satellite receiver systems which have been in constant need <br />of repair. Mrs. Manier made a motion that this request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - FIRE DEPARTMENT - <br />ONE (1) TYPE I MEDIUM HEAVY DUTY MODULAR AMBULANCE <br />Chief Luther Taylor, South Bend Fire Department, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt <br />of bids for the above referred to equipment. Chief Taylor noted that this vehicle will replace a unit <br />now in service. Further, payment will be made from the Emergency Medical Services Capital <br />Improvement Fund. Mrs. Manier made a motion that this request be approved. Mr. Caldwell <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />PROGRAM - PROJECT NO. 94-76 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell noted that there is a requirement for <br />construction of sewer liners by trenchless methods in several areas on the west side of South Bend. <br />Further, the plans and specifications have been prepared by the Engineering Division and are being <br />reviewed by the Legal Department. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this request be approved. Mrs. <br />Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />
