REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 5, 1994 <br />AWARD PROPOSAL - COLLECTION OF PAST DUE AMBULANCE ACCOUNTS FOR <br />1994 <br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor advised members of the Board that he has <br />reviewed the Proposals received on May 31, 1994, for collection of <br />past due ambulance accounts for the South Bend Fire Department for <br />1994 and recommends that the Board award the Proposal submitted by <br />the Credit Bureau of South Bend -Mishawaka for the year 1994. Mrs. <br />Manier made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the <br />Proposal be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF WABASH STREET FROM THE N. <br />R-O-W LINE OF W. CALVERT TO THE SO. R-O-W LINE OF W. DUBAIL AVENUE <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to <br />the Board a Vacation Petition as signed by eight (8) owners of <br />property located on South Olive and West Calvert Street, with Ms. <br />Lori Kay Gesto, Belle Way Trucking, Inc., 1705 South Olive Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, as Contact Person to vacate the following <br />property: <br />Wabash Street from the north right-of-way line of <br />West Calvert Street to the south right-of-way line <br />of West Dubail Avenue, for a distance of approximately <br />600 feet and a width of approximately 30 feet. Part <br />situated in Olive Place Addition to the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana. <br />The ordinance submitted with the Vacation Petition indicates that <br />the purpose of the vacation is to allow the properties located on <br />both sides of Wabash Street, between Calvert Street and Dubail <br />Street, to be combined/connected at some time in the future. This <br />is to allow for the growth of the current owners, Belle Way <br />Trucking, Inc. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area <br />Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Division of <br />Environmental Services and Department of Public Works. <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a <br />favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this <br />Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />NO BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ACTION REQUIRED - REQUEST OF HAUPERT <br />CONSTRUCTION & COMPANY TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that on June 20, 1994, the Board received a <br />request from Haupert Construction & Company, Inc., 1524 Miami <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, to add a decorative overhang with <br />canopy on the facade of the building located at 430-434 Lincolnway <br />West. Mr. Leszczynski further noted that this request has been <br />reviewed by various City departments and bureaus and the Division <br />of Engineering has advised that the canopy will not encroach onto <br />the public right-of-way. Mr. Leszczynski stated that therefore no <br />action by the Board is required. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and <br />carried, the following requests were referred to various City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: <br />OF CITY AWNING TO INSTALL CANOPY AT 507 WEST WESTERN AVENUE <br />Ms. Laurie Woolley, Coordinator, City Awning of South Bend, <br />1835 South Franklin, South Bend, Indiana, requested <br />permission to install a canopy type awning at Fred's <br />Transmission, 507 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana.
