REGULAR MEETING JULY 5, 1994 AWARD PROPOSAL - COLLECTION OF PAST DUE AMBULANCE ACCOUNTS FOR 1994 Fire Chief Luther Taylor advised members of the Board that he has reviewed the Proposals received on May 31, 1994, for collection of past due ambulance accounts for the South Bend Fire Department for 1994 and recommends that the Board award the Proposal submitted by the Credit Bureau of South Bend -Mishawaka for the year 1994. Mrs. Manier made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the Proposal be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF WABASH STREET FROM THE N. R-O-W LINE OF W. CALVERT TO THE SO. R-O-W LINE OF W. DUBAIL AVENUE Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as signed by eight (8) owners of property located on South Olive and West Calvert Street, with Ms. Lori Kay Gesto, Belle Way Trucking, Inc., 1705 South Olive Street, South Bend, Indiana, as Contact Person to vacate the following property: Wabash Street from the north right-of-way line of West Calvert Street to the south right-of-way line of West Dubail Avenue, for a distance of approximately 600 feet and a width of approximately 30 feet. Part situated in Olive Place Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana. The ordinance submitted with the Vacation Petition indicates that the purpose of the vacation is to allow the properties located on both sides of Wabash Street, between Calvert Street and Dubail Street, to be combined/connected at some time in the future. This is to allow for the growth of the current owners, Belle Way Trucking, Inc. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Division of Environmental Services and Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. NO BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ACTION REQUIRED - REQUEST OF HAUPERT CONSTRUCTION & COMPANY TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY Mr. Leszczynski noted that on June 20, 1994, the Board received a request from Haupert Construction & Company, Inc., 1524 Miami Street, South Bend, Indiana, to add a decorative overhang with canopy on the facade of the building located at 430-434 Lincolnway West. Mr. Leszczynski further noted that this request has been reviewed by various City departments and bureaus and the Division of Engineering has advised that the canopy will not encroach onto the public right-of-way. Mr. Leszczynski stated that therefore no action by the Board is required. REQUESTS REFERRED: Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following requests were referred to various City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: OF CITY AWNING TO INSTALL CANOPY AT 507 WEST WESTERN AVENUE Ms. Laurie Woolley, Coordinator, City Awning of South Bend, 1835 South Franklin, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to install a canopy type awning at Fred's Transmission, 507 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana.
