0021 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 4, 1994 <br />OF MARCH OF DIMES BIRTH DEFECTS FOUNDATION TO CONDUCT <br />ANNUAL WALK AMERICA - APRIL 23 1994 <br />Ms. Linda Moritz, Division Director, March of Dimes Birth <br />Detects Foundation, Indiana Chapter, 501 East Monroe, Suite <br />110, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct the <br />annual WalkAmerica fundraiser on Saturday, April 23, 1994. <br />Ms. Moritz submitted with the request a route to be utilized <br />for this Walk. <br />OF THE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. FOUNDATION INC. OF SAINT <br />JOSEPH COUNTY TO CONDUCT ANNUAL MARCH - JANUARY 17 1994 <br />Ms. Gladys Muhammad, The Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation, <br />Inc., of Saint Joseph County, 914 Lincolnway West, South <br />Bend, Indiana, informed the Board that the 9th Annual Martin <br />Luther King Jr., community -wide celebration will be held on <br />Monday, January 17, 1994. The program will begin at 7:30 <br />a.m. with their Annual Appreciation Breakfast at the Century <br />Center. Additional activities will continue at the Center <br />throughout the day. Once again the Foundation is requesting <br />permission to conduct their Annual Traditional March from the <br />County -City Building to the Century Center. Participants <br />will meet at 12:00 noon in the lobby of the County -City <br />Building and will march from the County -City to Century <br />Center down Jefferson Street to Saint Joseph Street beginning <br />at 12:15 p.m. <br />OF RON KIMLER'S FABRICRAFT TO INSTALL AWNING AT 113 EAST <br />JEFFERSON BOULEVARD (KINKO'S COPIES) <br />Ms. Penny Reese, Plant Manager, Ron Kimler's Fabricraft, 435 <br />South Airport Road West, Traverse City, Michigan, submitted <br />to the Board their plans and specifications to install an <br />awning at Kinko's Copies at 113 East Jefferson Boulevard. <br />Ms. Reese submitted a color illustration of the proposed <br />awning as well as production drawings to show the details of <br />construction and method of mounting. <br />OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY RIGHT TO LIFE INC. TO CONDUCT <br />PROTEST PROCESSION - JANUARY 21 1994 <br />Ms. Mary MacDonell, President, St. Joseph County Right to <br />Life, Inc., 320 North Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised the Board that their organization plans a <br />peaceful protect procession on Friday, January 21, 1994 <br />beginning at 12:00 noon and lasting one (1) hour on the <br />sidewalk outside the Federal Court Building at the corner of <br />Jefferson Boulevard and Main Streets. Ms. MacDonell noted <br />that protestors symbolically call to mind the January 22, <br />1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. Ms. <br />MacDonell further noted that last year it was necessary to <br />process around the entire block to remain orderly because of <br />the volume of people attending. As always, protestors will <br />be peaceful and prayerful. <br />APPROVE APPLICATIONS FOR PERMIT - SPECIALIZED COLLECTION SERVICES <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to the terms of the trash <br />and rubbish removal ordinance, the Board is in receipt of Permit <br />applications from private trash haulers who desire to continue <br />their business within the City.
