<br />AWARD BID - SAMPLE-EWING REDEVELOPMENT AREA - SITE CLEARANCE PHASE I
<br />STRUCTURE REMOVAL PACKAGE 3 - PROJECT NO. 95-15
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on March 27, 1995,
<br />bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr.
<br />Littrell recommends that the Board award the contract to Warner & Sons, 29099 U.S. 33, Elkhart,
<br />Indiana, in the amount of $29,500.00. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bids be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded
<br />the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO VACATE AN ALLEY
<br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that favorable recommendations have been received from the Division of
<br />Engineering, Area Plan Commission, Department of Economic Development, Fire Department,
<br />Department of Sanitation, Police Department and the City Attorney's Office, in reference to the alley
<br />vacation on the following:
<br />The first east -west alley north of East Jefferson Boulevard from the east right-of-way line
<br />of S. St. Peter to the east right-of-way line of the first north -south alley east of St. Peter, and
<br />the first east -west alley south of East Washington Avenue from the west right-of-way line
<br />of S. Notre Dame Avenue to the east right-of-way line of the first north -south alley west of
<br />S. Notre Dame Avenue. Also a right-of-way described as Beginning at the northeast corner
<br />of Lot 3 Y 5 in part of Cottrell's 1 st Addition to Lowell in the City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />The Petition to Vacate the Public Right -of -Way was submitted by Mr. Victor J. Pantea, Teacher's
<br />Credit Union, 110 S. Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO CLOSE WASHINGTON STREET - MEMORIAL
<br />DAY ACTIVITIES
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police
<br />Department, Division of Engineering and the Legal Department, in reference to the request to close
<br />Washington Street between Main Street and Lafayette Boulevard for approximately one hour on
<br />Monday, May 29, 1995, beginning at 2:00 p.m., in conjunction with Memorial Day activities to be
<br />conducted in front of the Sailors and Soldiers Monument on the Court House lawn. Therefore, upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LICENSE APPLICATION
<br />- PERU CIRCUS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police
<br />Department, Legal Department, Division of Engineering, Park Department and Code Enforcement,
<br />in reference to the request to conduct the "Peru Circus" on June 10 and 11, 1995, from 1:00 p.m. to
<br />8:00 p.m. at the Potawatomi Zoo. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the License Application for a Circus was approved.

<br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Code Enforcement, Police Department and the Fire Department, for the following
