<br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 31, 1997
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Deborah
<br />Douglas, 1133 East. Bissell, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block party on
<br />Saturday, June 14, 1997, from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell,
<br />seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations from the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the Redevelopment Design Review Committee for a request to
<br />place rolling scaffolding at the corner of Jefferson and Main, to provide protection while replacing
<br />windows on the First Bank Building, as submitted by Mr. Larry Schultz, Garmon, Inc., 3805 South
<br />Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and
<br />carried, the recommendation was approved, subject to a Certificate of Insurance and the appropriate
<br />Bond.
<br />APPROVAL OF LICENSE APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC PARKING FACILITY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations from the Fire
<br />Department and Code Enforcement, for a License Application for a Public Parking Facility, as
<br />submitted by Ampco System Parking, for their parking lot at 220 East Wayne, South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the License Application
<br />was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT 1997 GLOBAL MARCH FOR JESUS
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Lynne Davis, Global March for Jesus, to conduct the above referred to
<br />march, on Saturday, May 17, 1997, beginning at 1:00 p.m., on the designated route as submitted.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved, subject to an Indemnification and Hold Harmless Undertaking.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT CINCO DE MAYO 5K
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Mr. Savino Rivera, Infancia Mexicana, Post Office Box 8042, South Bend,
<br />Indiana to conduct the above referred to 5K, on Sunday, May 4, 1997, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15
<br />p.m.; on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr.
<br />Littrell. and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVE RELEASE OF CLAIM
<br />Mr. Caldwell- stated that a Release of Claim has been presented to the Board for approval, as
<br />submitted. by Apollo Casualty Company, 1400 East Touhy Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois, for the
<br />settlement of damages which occurred on or about December 24, 1996 at Huron Street and
<br />Kosciuszko Street, by Bernardo Galvez. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms.
<br />Roemer and carried, the Release of Claim was approved.
<br />APPROVE RELEASE OF CONTRACTOR AND EXCAVATION BONDS
<br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following
<br />Contractors and Excavation Bonds be released as follows: '
<br />BOND OF CONTRACTOR
<br />Two Guys Plumbing Co., Inc.
<br />EXCAVATION BONDS -
<br />Environmental Crossings, Inc.
<br />Released Effective March 24, 1997
<br />Released Effective March 31, 1997
<br />Mr. Caldwell made- a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be released
<br />as outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which*carried.
