0~ •41 E.- 1 REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 28 1999 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA James R. Caldwell, President Lewis N. Powell, Member M. Catherine Roemer, Member ATTEST: Matthew L. Bussell, Clerk APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - SIX (6) 2000 MODEL FULL SIZE, FRONT WHEEL DRIVE POLICE PATROL VEHICLES In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Central Services Division, requested permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to vehicles. Funding will be provided by the Police Departments Capital Budget Fund. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell, and carried the request to advertise was approved. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - EAST LASALLE FROM TWYCKENHAM TO ESTHER - BLOCK PARTY Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Kristine Darden, 1501 East LaSalle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block party, on October 3, 1999, on the designated route as submitted. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Powell seconded the motion which carried. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREETS - HOMECOMING PARADE Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Parks Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Cpl. David Newton, John Adams High School to conduct the above referred to homecoming day parade, on October 1, 1999, on the designated route as submitted. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Powell seconded the motion which carried. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREETS - TO CONDUCT A MARCH Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Parks Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Gladys Muhammad, United Community Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse, 914 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred to march, on October 29, 1999, on the designated route as submitted. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Powell seconded the motion which carried.
