Jacob, Clerk <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - SOUTH BEND <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT STATION NO.4 RE -ROOF PROJECT - PROJECT NO. 99-58 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Roger Nawrot, Ken Herceg & Associates, requested permission to <br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Therefore, upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids <br />was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED <br />VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department ofCode Enforcement, requested permission to advertise <br />for the sale of approximately seventeen (17) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super <br />Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all <br />vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto <br />theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. <br />Caldwell and carried, the above request was approved. <br />DENY REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - HIGH/BROADWAY <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that an unfavorable recommendation has been received by Community and <br />Economic Development, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Johnnie Duke, 735 East <br />Broadway, South Bend, Indiana to purchase two properties at High and Broadway Streets. The <br />Department of Community and Economic Development has reviewed the request and has found it <br />to be in the best interest of the City to retain this property. Community and Economic Development <br />stated that the southeast neighborhood has experienced considerable redevelopment over the past six <br />years, and the availability of vacant lots owned by the City has helped contribute to the overall <br />redevelopment effort. A housing development study will be started in the near future. Until that <br />study is complete and fully analyzes the impact of the remaining lots, Community and Economic <br />Development recommends that the City retain this property. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request was denied. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - APPLICATION AND AGREEMENT FOR SIDEWALK <br />SALE - OUIZNO'S CLASSIC SUBS <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Fire Enforcement, Police Department, Design Review, Building Department and the <br />City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. David Risner, Quizno's Classic <br />Subs, 131 South Michigan, South Bend, Indiana, for an application for a sidewalk cafe. Upon a <br />motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the recommendation was <br />approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE WAKEWA FROM HILLCREST TO <br />LAFAYETTE - BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Steve Michael, <br />205 Wakewa, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block party, on August 22,1999. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation <br />was approved. <br />
