<br /> <br />SBBPC <br />OUTH END OARD OF ARK OMMISSIONERS <br />RM <br />EGULAR EETING <br />N17,2008 <br />OVEMBER <br /> <br />The Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District of the City of South Bend, Indiana met on <br />Monday the 17th of November 2008 at the O’Brien Administration & Recreation Center, 321 E. <br />Walter St., South Bend, Indiana for its regular meeting. Notice of the date, time and place of the <br />meeting were duly given as required by law. <br /> <br />Park Board members present were as follows: <br />Mr. Robert Henry, President <br />Mr. Robert Goodrich, Vice President <br />Dr. Thomas Kelly <br /> <br />Park Board members absent were as follows: <br />Mr. Garrett Mullins <br /> <br />Staff members present: Phil St. Clair, Superintendent; Betsy Harriman, Administrative Director; <br />Bill Carleton, Fiscal Officer; Susan O’Connor, Recreation Director; Randy Nowacki, Director of <br />Golf Operations; Terry DeRosa, Zoo Director; Richard Payton, Development Director; Mike <br />Dyszkiewicz, Maintenance Superintendent; Thomas Bodnar, Park Board Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />I.The meeting was called to order by Board President Robert Henry at 4:03 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />II.The first order of business was the interviewing of interested citizens. <br /> <br /> <br />1.Mr. Tom Florkowski addressed the Board to inquire about the condition of Bowman <br />Creek as it flows through Studebaker Golf Course. Director St. Clair said that this would <br />be reported to Mr. Nowacki and he would check on his concern. <br /> <br />2.Report by South Bend Baseball Club, LLC <br />Mr. Terry Coleman of the South Bend Silver Hawks reported that attendance was up <br />significantly for 2008 to over 163,000. They made the playoffs this year, but the playoffs <br />were suspended after the torrential rainfall in October. They were down 2 games to none <br />at that point. <br />The 2009 schedule has been finalized and it is more favorable due to fewer games earlier <br />in the year and more home games in July and August. <br />The stadium is being winterized. <br /> <br />3.Botanical Society- Martha Lewis <br />Ms. Lewis reported that the Botanical Society recently distributed its newsletter. <br />The fountain restoration by Ginger Valley is underway. It is hoped to be finished by <br />December. <br />Decorations are being put up by the volunteers. <br /> <br /> - - 1 - - <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
