r+ <br />�a low <br />23rd, 1932. <br />MINUTES. <br />REGULAR MEETING. <br />Be it Remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, State of"I�ftdiana, met <br />the Regular Session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Monday evening May 23rd, 1932, <br />at the hour of 9 :10 o1clock P. M.' All Members present." President Nelson - presided. The Minutes <br />of the previous meeting were read and on Motion of Councilman Hull were referred to:the Commit <br />on the Inspection and Supervision of Minutes. Motion carried: <br />COMMUNICATION. <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Office of the Mayor <br />William R.' Hinkle Mayor May 21, 1932. <br />To the Honorable Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana.' <br />Gentlemen: I have this day formally removed Mr.' John K.` Smogor from <br />the Board of Public Works, and have this day.appointed Mr. George A. <br />the office of member of <br />Schock to succeed him as <br />member of the Board of Public Works.' <br />My reason is that the responsibility for the conduct of the city's business rests by law upoxr.m <br />There should be the fullest harmony and absolute co— operation between all departments of the <br />city and myself, and I feel this has not-existed between Mr.' Smogor and myself. A.' Budd as a member and president of th <br />Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend and have appointed Mr.' John G.' Klink as the ne <br />incumbent:' <br />I feel that Mr.' Budd has not accorded me and other members of-the Board the fullest co-- operatio <br />and continued friction in the department has actuated this move. <br />The conduct of the city's business rests, by law, upon me and this action has been taken.to <br />further the efficient administration of business and to promote harmony in the department.` <br />Very truly yours, W. Motion carried:' <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES. <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Your Committee on the insoectt.on and supervision of.the minutes, would respectfully'report <br />that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them <br />correct.'
