<br />An Ordinance Regulating and prohibiting the storing and / or piling of combustible materia
<br />within the limits of the City of South Bend, Indiana:`
<br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on
<br />Motion of Councilman Gustinx was referred to the Committee of the. Whole , which said Meeting
<br />will be held June 6th,. 1932 at 7 :30 o'clock P.' M.' Motion carried
<br />RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN GLEN L. OAKLEY
<br />WHEREAS, the General financial condition of the city requires retrenchment in every
<br />Department thereof and
<br />WHEREAS, it is necessary that steps be taken by the Executive Department of the City to
<br />eliminate any possible waste and extravagance; and
<br />WHEREAS, there are certain employees on the municipal payroll who may be elimated
<br />without impairing the efficiency of the departments; therefore
<br />Be it resolved that it is the sense of the Common Council of the ,4ity of South Bend, India
<br />that immediate action be taken by the Mayor and the Department heads that all transportation
<br />or car allowances to city officials or employees be forthwith discontinued; and
<br />Be it further resolved that steps be taken at once by the Mayor that all gas and oil used
<br />in city cars be checked against the mileage recorded on each car to prevent and unnecessary
<br />to keep a permanent record cf all supplies on hand
<br />waste and that all Departments be instrted
<br />ts made and a copy of such record transmitted to
<br />of all goods received and of all disbursemen
<br />the time of preparation of the annual budget and ta:
<br />the Common Council by the Mayor annually at
<br />levye° and,
<br />Be it'still further resolved that the Mayor and Department heads forthwith take action to
<br />eliminate the following employees:
