r' <br />I t% <br /> <br />SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />October 17, 2001 <br />1:30 p.m. <br />Presiding: Mr. Jose Alvarez <br />1308 County-City Building <br />227 West Jefferson Boulevard <br />South Bend, N 46601 <br />The October 17, 2001 Regular Meeting of the Redevelopment Authority was called to order at <br />1:47 p.m. by its Secretary, Jose Alvarez. There was a quorum present. <br />1. ROLL CALL <br />Members Present: Mr. Jose Alvarez, Secretary <br />Mr. Cleo Washington <br />Member Absent: Ms. Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer, President <br />Redevelopment Staff: Mr. Donald Inks, Director <br />Mrs. Jenny Hullinger, Recording Secretary <br />Ms. Cheryl Greene, Legal Counsel <br />LJ <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />a. Approval of the minutes of October 3, 2001 <br />Upon a motion by Cleo Washington, seconded by Jose Alvarez, and unanimously carried, <br />the Authority approved the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 3, 2001. <br />3. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. Island Park <br />Mr. Inks said that the Redevelopment Authority owns Island Park and there has been <br />vandalism of the Park. The umbrellas. and canopies have been slashed and graffiti has <br />been painted. The amount of damage is about $20,000. We are presently checking to see <br />if the Redevelopment Authority leased the land to the Redevelopment Commission or <br />another entity. Until that is established no action will be taken as to limiting the hours of <br />the park or perhaps putting up gates to keep people out at night. <br />Attorney Cheryl Greene said if the Redevelopment Authority is the appropriate body to <br />take action then they could authorize the Legal Department to look into alternatives of <br />how to restrict access to this property or what other methods would be appropriate, or <br />direct staff to talk to the Police to see what can be done. If there is a lease, as Landlord, <br />the Authority would still have certain rights that they can exercise. Ms. Greene said there <br />• H:\WPDATA\AUTHORTY\10001.min.wpd <br />
