QIuntmtttrr Export <br /> PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE <br /> Ulo the fdomnton Moonlit of the Mtn of iikuttil Mend: <br /> The February 11, 1991 meeting of the Public Safety Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member <br /> William Soderberg, at 4:47 p.m. in the Council Informal <br /> Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Zakrzewski, <br /> Coleman, Duda, Ladewski, Puzzello, Soderberg, Luecke, <br /> Slavinskas, and Niezgodski; Chief Luther Taylor, Assistant <br /> Chief Rick Switalski, John Liesenring, Richard Morgan, <br /> George Herendeen, a member of the news media, and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Soderberg then called upon Chief Taylor to <br /> review Bill Nos. 10-91 and 11-91. <br /> Chief Taylor reviewed Bill 11-91, which would appropriate <br /> $466, 652 . 00 from the Emergency Medical Services Capital <br /> Improvement Fund. $455, 642 . 00 would be appropriated for 1991 <br /> lease payments on the 1988 Ford ambulance, the 1989 Ford <br /> ambulance, the 1988 GMC rescue unit, the 1985 Quint midi's, <br /> the 1991 Ford ambulance, the 1991 HazMat vehicle, and the <br /> 1991 SCBA. He also noted that an additional $11, 010. 00 would <br /> be spent on equipment purchases for light bars, a computer <br /> for the EMS building, a battery pack for the heart monitors, <br /> and radios. <br /> He noted that Bill No. 10-91 would appropriate $4, 140. 00 <br /> from the HazMat Fund to purchase additional equipment. This <br /> equipment would finish the HazMat trailer and would also <br /> involve the plating material for the rear of the chassis. <br /> Rick Switalski noted that revenues from ambulance runs are <br /> projected at $600, 000. 00 to $625, 000. 00 for 1991. He further <br /> noted that of this amount, $65, 000. 00 is being generated by <br /> the neo-natal contract with Memorial. The base contract is <br /> $36,500. 00. 149 runs were made last year through this <br /> contractual arrangement. He further indicated that the City <br /> had 7, 612 requests for service and a 74% collection rate. In <br /> response to a question raised by Council Member Coleman, <br /> Assistant Chief Switalski noted that the County had a <br /> request for service rate last year of 1, 672 . 00. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Ladewski, <br /> it was noted that the $4, 140. 00 is a small portion of the <br /> total cost for the HazMat items. <br />
