• <br /> CgonrI itttgr Ewe <br /> PUBLIC WORKS <br /> Xu t1e Q rnnnwn Qtoutuit of tip Ong of irfaztll A3.end: <br /> The April 10, 1989 meeting of the Public Works Committee was called <br /> to order at 4 :50 p .m. in the Council informal meeting room. by Council <br /> Member Tom Zakrzewski, Chair Person. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members : Slavinskas , Puzzello , <br /> Luecke, Coleman, Niezgodski, and Zakrzewski ; John Leszczynski and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Zakrzewski noted that there were three Bills on the <br /> agenda to review. The first Bill was Bill No. 22-89 which would <br /> appropriate $305 , 000. 00 from the Local Road and Street Fund for the <br /> widening and lighting of Cleveland and Brick Road. Mr. Leszczynski <br /> noted that this project is desperately needed in light of the area <br /> where two lanes become four lanes with a concrete median. He noted <br /> that the plans include a single concrete lane with improved street <br /> lighting but there will be no new signalization. The current medians <br /> would be eliminated. He stated that the bid price of $305,000. 00 <br /> is what would be appropriated. <br /> • <br /> Following further discussions Council Member Niezgodski made a motion <br /> secondded .by_,Counc.il Member Puzzello that Bill No. 22-89 be recommended <br /> favorabhy to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 23-89. which would appropriate <br /> $23 ,535. 36 from the Local Road and Street rund to improve local railroad <br /> crossings throughout the City. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the <br /> appropriation amount represents the City' s 10% share of the railroad <br /> crossing work at the following locations : 1400 South Olive, Ford Street , <br /> and Walnut Street , all which has been completed with rubberized crossings . <br /> Mr. Leszczynski further noted that the State now requires that the City' s <br /> share be placed up front with the railroad doing all of the necessary <br /> repair work. <br /> Following further discussion Council Member Puzzello made a motion <br /> seconded by Council Member Slavinskas that Bill No. 23-89 be recommended <br /> favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 24-89 which would appropriate <br /> $9 , 000.00 from the Local Road and Street Fund for engineering work for <br /> the Miami/Calvert intersection improvements. <br /> Mr. Leszczynski noted that that Cole Associates will be designing the <br /> upgrading of signals for this particular intersection. He noted that <br /> the actual work would be funded through the Federal Aid Urban Program <br /> and would be approximately two years before the project is completed. <br />
