SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> DECEMBER 19, 2011 <br /> The Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District of the City of South Bend, Indiana met on <br /> Monday December 19, 2011 at the O'Brien Administration&Recreation Center, 321 E. Walter St., <br /> South Bend, Indiana for its regular meeting. Notice of the date,time and place of the meeting were <br /> duly given as required by law. <br /> Park Board members present were as follows: <br /> Mr. Robert Henry,President <br /> Mr. Robert Goodrich,Vice President <br /> Ms. Amy Hill <br /> Mr. Garrett Mullins <br /> Park Board members absent were as follows: <br /> Staff members present: Phil St. Clair, Superintendent; Bill Carleton,Fiscal Officer; Betsy Harriman, <br /> Administrative Director; Susan O'Connor,Recreation Director; Randy Nowacki,Director of Golf <br /> Operations; Laura Arriaga, Interim Zoo Director; Richard Payton,Development Director; John <br /> Martinez, Central Mowing and Graffiti Abatement Supervisor; TJ Mannen,Elbel Golf Professional; <br /> Thomas Bodnar,Park Board Attorney <br /> I. The meeting was called to order by Board President Robert Henry at 4:04 p.m. <br /> H. The next order of business was unfinished business. <br /> 1. Opening of Voorde Park Project Bids-Mike Bultinck <br /> Bids were opened and read aloud. See attachment. <br /> Mr. Goodrich made a motion to take the bids under advisement for staff review and return <br /> later in the meeting with their recommendation. Ms Hill seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> III. The first order of business was the interviewing of interested citizens. <br /> 1. Director St. Clair recognized Councilwoman Puzello for her service and dedication to the <br /> Department over the years on her retirement from the City Council. He said she was a friend <br /> to him and the department. He presented her with a memento of appreciation from the <br /> department. She thanked him and said she enjoyed her years as our representative. <br /> 2. Update on Miracle Park-Bill Schalliol and Chuck Lehman <br /> Mr. Schalliol and Lehman felt they have found a good site in the Blackthorn Development <br /> area and explained to the Board why it was a good fit. There are still issues to resolve before <br /> it can be used. They hoped they could come back early next year with a proposal. <br /> 3. Update on Potawatomi Park Conservatory-Andrew Schnabel <br /> Dr. Schnabel,President of the Botanical Society,updated the Board on the progress of the <br /> improvements at the Conservatory and the operations of the Society.
