20' <br />°Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present. <br />City Attorney L. W.I. Hammond appeared before the Board and took up matter <br />of appeals taken by various -property owners on their assessments MR <br />ing Avenue <br />Pavement assessments in August 1921 and now pending in Couht for and stated.' <br />that he would like to have property appraised to ascertain the value of the various <br />lots before oing to tridal. The Board authorized Mr. Hammond to,obtain the services <br />of two disinterested ps-rties to appraise lots., <br />The- matter of vacating a five foot``strip of La Monte Terrace was discuss <br />and the City Attorney reported that there were decisions on similiar cases other than <br />those quoted by the Attorney for the parties who asked for part of La -Monte Terrace <br />be vacated, which would also protect the City`s rIghtp in the matter. <br />- A property ownere residing on Olive Strut in Vernon Heights Addition <br />appeared before the Board and complained of the condition of Olive Huey and Elmer <br />Streets in Vernon Heights Addition, after,a discussion with.D. C. L'ayton, Street <br />Commissioner it was decided that petitions should be presented -for grading and: gravel- <br />ingof these streets and same would be considered. <br />Mr. Jacob Hoffman and Engineers of the La Salle Hotel Company appeared <br />before the Board and requested,permission to install a transformer vault for the - <br />La Salle Hotel in Michigan Street. Romig appeared before the Board and presneted Plat <br />known as Romig First Addition to South Bend . Mr. L. P. Hardy moved that Plat be <br />approved subject to the City Planning Commission, same seconded and carried and plat <br />was approved as follows:- <br />P L +A T. <br />The belov#nnaxddmap represents a plat of a tract of land in the City <br />of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana., which is to be known as Romig`s First <br />Addition to the City of South Bend , and which tract is bounded by a line running <br />as follows, to -wit: Beginning at the northwest intersection of Ewin Avenue and <br />-Gertrude St., in said City, and running North on the West line of sad Gertrude St., to <br />a point (200.8) two hundred and eight tenths feet south of the intersection of said <br />Street with the southerly line of Prairie Avenue, thence wept from said point a <br />distance of One Hundred Six and*Twenty--five hundreths feet 106.25) thence north <br />-to the southerly Line of said Prairie Avenue, thence southwesterly about 92.3 ft. <br />along the southerly line of said Prairie Avenue to the intersection of said avenue with <br />a fourteen (14) foot alley, thence south along the easterly line of said 140foot alley <br />to its intersection with Ewing Avenue, thence East along the southerly line of said <br />Ewing Avenue to the lace of beginning. The sa id tract being in the east helf of the <br />Southeast r2) <br />arter (2� of Section Fifteen (15), Township thirty-seven (37) north, <br />Range two East. <br />The dimensions of, t e lots and the alleys are marked in feet upon said <br />plat and the lots are twenty "three (23) in number being numbered from one to twenty <br />-three inclusive: <br />The lleys and the five-foot strip of the easterly side thereof being <br />along the westerly side or said Gertrude Street, which said ;give foot strip has not <br />heretofore been dedciated to the publics are hereby dedicate t the public for public <br />highway. <br />In Witness Whereof we the owners of the above described tract do <br />hereunto subscribe our hands and seals this 21st day of March A.
