Regular 1TTeeting. <br />Regular Meeting of the Board of Publis Safety was held on llonday <br />April 22,1935.at 8:30.A.M.All members were present. <br />F <br />klinutes of .meeting of April 15th were read and approved.. <br />Requisitions bearing numbers 8434 to 8447 inclusive were approved. <br />Claims in the amount of X62 :19 were approved also pay roll of <br />police fire,�lectricial and dog pound departments in the amount of <br />16658: 35. Were approved. <br />Swanson Service Co. <br />Office Engineers Inc. <br />The Gibson Co <br />A.D.Ilass & Soms Inc <br />Smith -Alsop S- .B.Paint <br />Business Systems Inc <br />Frank S.Andrews <br />Richey Radiator Servi <br />7.50 ` <br />1.25 <br />1.65 <br />4.47 <br />2.32 <br />1.25 <br />4.50 <br />14.00 <br />tlibberd Printing Co. 18.75 <br />Taube Printing Co. 4.50 <br />Hibberd Printing Co. 2.00 <br />Fire Department Chief Freeh present. <br />Matters pertaining to his department were'discussed.The chiefreported <br />that two of his Fire Trucks broke down in going to fire on Sunday and <br />had to be towed in.The Board authorized necessary repairs to put these <br />trucks in running condition. <br />The question of appropritatio'ns for Fire Dept was discussed based <br />on an anatysis submitted by the Secretary wherein it was foundseveral <br />accounts were inadequated to take care of the requiremen.tsfor the <br />balance of the year.The chief was instructed to confer with the secretary <br />and make recommendations at a later meeting.The question of gas <br />consumption had the particular attention of the board andthe chief <br />and Secretary were instructed to investigate the matter carefully at <br />ono "e.The following letter was directed to the Northern Ind Public <br />Service Co reference to Stations that were showing an increased <br />consumption in the last two months. <br />Dear Sir; <br />We believe the meters at Fire Stations and <br />Central are indicating a greater consumption than is actually used <br />and we would appreciate it if you would replace present meters and <br />make necessary tests to determine if such is the case.Will you please <br />take action regarding this matter and advise us that have done so. <br />Application of Cecil IvTcNenry for the Fire Dept was ordered placed <br />on file. <br />Electrical Dept Itr C;ualls ,present. <br />The matter of Traffic signal at Columbia :mot and the Grand Trunk tracks <br />was discussed and Mr ;calls recommendation,Vpon motion seconed'and <br />carried,was adopted to grant removal of signal on the south side of <br />the tracks and to construct a double si €nal at the present signal <br />location on the North side of the traeks.The following letter was <br />`directed to the Railroad Co. <br />Dear Sir; <br />Your letter of April 10th has the attention of this Board <br />and upon investigation please be advised that permission has been <br />you to remove the signal on the south side of your tracks on Columbia <br />St in the `ci.ty of South. Bend and to construct a double signal at the <br />present location on the Na side of the tracks.Action may be taken by <br />you at once. <br />1111r Qualls requested permission`to be in Indianapolis-on tuesday night <br />and Wednesday on personal business in connection with his office in <br />the K.of P.lodge.Tne Board concurred. <br />The question of appropriations for the Electrical.Dept was discussed. <br />based on analysis submitted by'the secretary.The parti.cuarl item oig <br />coal had the attention of the Board inasmuch as the entire approriation <br />had been consumed at this tome.Mr walls was instructed to confer with <br />the Secretary and report at a later meeting. <br />
