REGULAR ;v]E', ETING Regular meeting'of the Board of Public Safety was held at 8 :30 A. M., March 4th, 1935. All members were present. Minutes of the regular meeting of February 25 and special meeting of February 28 were read and approved. Requisitions bearing the following numbers were approved: 08350 to 08372 inclusive. Millhouse 50.00 Total X528.87 Upon invitation, the representatives of five cab companies appeared before the Board to discuss the situation of permits under which they are operat- ing in the City which developed to be as follows: Indiana Cab Co. operating 24 cars now have stands at the following places: LaSalle Hotel on the south side of LaSalle Ave. LaSalle annex on the north _side of LaSalle Ave. S. W. Corner of Colfax & Michigan on south side 'of Colfax At the old grand Trunk depot on Michigan St. American Cab Co., a subsidiary of the Indiana Cab Co. operating three cars at: S.E. corner of Colfax & Main on Colfax Courtesy Cab Co. operating five .cars out of a two cab at the N. vi. corner of Michigan and Jefferson, on Jefferson. The Yellow -Cab Co. operating 18 cabs now have stands at the following places: Hoffmann Hotel on the South side of LaSalle Ave. Oliver Hotel on the north side of Washington St. Jefferson Hotel on the south side of Jefferson St. Bus station. N. Y. Central Railroad The South Bend Cab Co. operating 15 cars now have stands at the following places. South Shore station on the west side of Michigan gat. Clark's Restaurant on the west side of Michigan St. After a thorough discussion of the matter, the Board took it under advise -. ment to be decided at a later meeting. POLICE DEPARTMENT -Chief Lane present: The Secretary informed the Board that the Police Physician, Dr. Pauszek, brought up the question of fees in extraordinary cases such as accidents and stated his opinion of his duties was to check up on reported sick policemen and if his services were desired, the policeman was to pay the expense and in accident eases he vias to make suggestions as to procedure and any expense incurred by such service was to be paid by the City in addition to his retainer fee. On conferring with the Chief, he was of the same opinion and the Secretary was instructed to look up the Ordinance to ascertain if the duties of the Police Physician were outlined. A communication from the Mayor was read recommending that the Chief of Police order the following to report to the Police Surgeon for physical examination Sgt. J. J. Hatt, Officers Walter hosler, David C. Raymond, Lafayette Riddle, Michael Grzesczyk, John Howard, Stephen Molnar, Fred Hammer, Mrs. Minnie Evans and Mrs. Jennie Penwell. After discussing this matter with the Chi --f of Police, the Board decided to make this request of the first four mentioned for the present and the Secretary was instructed to so notify the individuals.
