SBBPC <br />OUTH END OARD OF ARK OMMISSIONERS <br />RM <br />EGULAR EETING <br />M17,2010 <br />AY <br /> <br />The Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District of the City of South Bend, Indiana met on <br />th <br />Monday the 17 of May 2010 at the O’Brien Administration & Recreation Center, 321 E. Walter <br />St., South Bend, Indiana for its regular meeting. Notice of the date, time and place of the meeting <br />were duly given as required by law. <br /> <br />Park Board members present were as follows: <br />Mr. Robert Henry, President <br />Mr. Robert Goodrich, Vice President <br />Dr. Thomas Kelly <br />Mr. Garrett Mullins <br /> <br />Park Board members absent were as follows: <br /> None <br /> <br />Staff members present: Phil St. Clair, Superintendent; Bill Carleton, Fiscal Officer; Betsy <br />Harriman, Administrative Director; Susan O’Connor, Recreation Director; Randy Nowacki, <br />Director of Golf Operations; Paul McMinn, Assistant Recreation Director; Terry DeRosa, Zoo <br />Director; Richard Payton, Development Director; Mike Dyszkiewicz, Maintenance <br />Superintendent; Mike Bueno, Youth Program Supervisor; Thomas Bodnar, Park Board Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />I.The meeting was called to order by Board President Robert Henry at 4:04 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />II.The first order of business was the interviewing of interested citizens. <br /> <br /> <br />1.Mr. Jonathon Geels a landscape architect came before the Board to inform them of “Keep <br />South Bend Beautiful”, an organization similar to “Keep America Beautiful.” He said he <br />wanted to partner with the city to pursue litter prevention and beautification of South <br />Bend and encourage green and sustainable initiatives. <br />President Henry said it sounded like a great idea and wished he would keep the Board <br />informed of his efforts. <br /> <br />2.Zoo Director DeRosa introduced Ms. Marci Dean, Executive Director of the Zoological <br />Society and Mr. Jim Martindale, Vice President of the Zoological Society, gave a <br />presentation concerning their proposed river otter exhibit at Potawatomi Zoo. This exhibit <br />will be funded by the Zoological Society. <br />Director St. Clair endorsed the project. <br />Upon completion of their presentation, they requested the Board’s approval to go forward <br />with the exhibit. <br />Dr. Kelly made a motion to approve the project as presented. Mr. Goodrich seconded the <br />motion and it was passed. <br /> <br /> - - 1 - - <br /> <br /> <br />
