ZONING AND ANNEXATION COMMITTEE 9-14-09 <br />Al "Buddy" Kirsits, Chairperson, Zoning and Annexation Committee called the meeting <br />to order at 3:48 p.m. <br />Committee Members Present: Tom LaFountain, Oliver Davis, David Varner <br />Other Councilmember's Present: Karen L. White, Henry Davis, Jr., Tim Rouse, Derek <br />Dieter, Ann Puzzello <br />Other's Present: Mayor Steve Luecke, Mary Ann Myers, Tom Price, Gary Gilot, Dennis <br />Andres, Gregg Zientara, Phil St. Clair, Jeff Gibney, Chief Buchanon, Martha Lewis, Rita <br />Kopala, Jim Masters, Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Matthew Seese, Christa Nayder <br />Agenda: Bill No. 49-09 -Rezone - 2717, 2719, 2729 S. Main Street and 217 Oakside <br />Bill No. 54-09 -Amend Code Chapter 21, Article 5 Planned Unit Development <br />Bill No. 49-09 <br />Zoning and Annexation Chairperson, Al "Buddy" Kirsits began the hearings with all <br />committee members present. He noted both bills under review were substitutions that <br />needed to be accepted. That done, he recognized Jim Masters representing the petitioners <br />for rezoning in Bill No. 49-09. He began by referencing the Area Plan Commissions <br />unanimous favorable recommendation. The requested change from LB Local Business to <br />GI General Industrial would allow Huffaker Enterprises to utilize a now vacant building <br />on 1.1 acres for storage and metal fabricating. Three homes on the property would be <br />demolished for a fenced storage yard once the residents were relocated. Christa Nayder <br />noted for the record the APC staff recommendation was unfavorable out of concern for <br />the houses. Masters reiterated the residents would be given ample time to re-locate once <br />fairly compensated•forthefr property. On a motion to send to Council favorably by <br />Council Member Oliver Davis, seconded by David Varner, and supported by all Council <br />Member Kirsits noted the affirmation. <br />~~;~'~ <br />,~. <br />
