X03
PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION SEPTEMBER 7, 2006
The Clerk was instructed to post the agenda and notify the media and other persons who
have requested notice of the meeting agenda. No other business came before the Board.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
Gary A. Gilot, President
Carl P. Littrell, Member
nald E. Inks, Member
ATTEST:
!~-~ ~-~
Angela K. J cob, Clerk
REGULAR MEETING
SEPTEMBER 11, 2006
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:33 a.m. on
Monday, September 11, 2006, by Board President Gary A. Gilot, with Carl P. Littrell and
Donald E. Inks present. Also present was Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar.
APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell, and carried, the minutes of
the public agenda sessio~i and regular meeting of the Board held on August 24 and 28,
2006, respectively, were approved.
PUBLIC HEARING -SEPTEMBER 11, 2006 -PETITION FOR VOLUNTARY
DISANNEXATION - WEST OF EDDY STREET/NORTH OF EDISON
ROAD/ANGELA BOULDEVARD (AS REALIGNED) AND SOUTH OF (AND
INCLUDING) VACATED ANGELA BOULEVARD IN PORTAGE TOWNSHIP -
UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME DU LAC
Mr. Gilot advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning the
above referenced disannexation for property identified as Property Tax Key No. 18-5123-
4392.03 and a portion of Key No 18-5123-4392.02.
Mr. Greg Hakanen, Director of Asset Management and Real Estate Development,
University of Notre Dame, was present and stated the request for disarmexation is for this
parcel to be used as part of the Logan Center when Edison Road was realigned. This
became detached from the rest of the parcel, and it is now a part of campus. The
University of Notre Dame has planned landscaping and heartscaping for the area south of
the DeBartelow Performing Art Center which would be on this property. It would make
sense that this become a part of campus. Mr. Rich Deal, University of Notre Dame, was
present to clarify an item in the actual Petition for Voluntary Disannexation. Iv'umber
four (4) of the petition states that the property sought is to be annexed and rezoned at this
address. Mr. Gilot stated the error would be changed to read "disannexed" rather than
"annexed". The phrase on zoning was stricken from the document. Mr. Marco Mariani,
Community & Economic Development, stated this property has always been used for
non-profit purposes, and there would not be any effect on the tax base for the City of
South Bend in teens of the disannexation.
1
1
1
