FY 2008 WEED AND SEED COMMUNITIES APPLICATION <br />The Weed & Seed Site Coordinator's primary responsibilities shall include: <br />f`? <br />1. Provide administrative support to SBWSA Board and Committees to include but not <br />be limited to, scheduling facilitation, follow-up, monitoring. <br />2. Provide reports to the Board and all Committees. <br />3. Research and pursue alternative funding opportunities. <br />4. Work with the City to ensure grant compliance with federal, state, and local <br />government funding sources for which the SBWSA is responsible, including <br />processing of claims for reimbursement and submission of required reports and <br />budget forms to the Community Capacity Development Office. <br />5. Work with U.S. Department of Justice, US Attorney, DEA, City of South Bend, Office <br />of the Prosecutor, community agencies, law enforcement and other participating <br />organizations, and serve as liaison to same. <br />6. Serves as liaison to other Weed & Seed sites. <br />7. Oversees public relations/marketing and outreach campaign. <br />8. Oversees afl steering committee projects as assigned. <br />9. Oversees process evaluation of all programs. <br />10. Attend weed & seed conferences and trainings. <br />11. Foster sustained community involvement in the Weed & Seed area, working with <br />area residents and businesses. <br />12. Attend local W&S events as scheduled. <br />13. Manage contracts for W&S activities/programs. <br />The Director Position description will be again reviewed by the Steering Committee and <br />advertised in the local South Bend Tribune. It is anticipated that the position would be <br />filled no later than 45 days after the notification of award. Background checks will be done <br />through the South Bend Police Department. <br />Qualifications <br />Be organized/timely <br />Ability to work independently/be proactive <br />Ability to address the public, handle stressful situations <br />Good written and verbal skills <br />Ability to communicate with residents, including youth, and <br />businesses <br />Team building <br />Community organizing <br />Some fiscal work background <br />Bilingual (preference) <br />Ability to provide own transportation to attend meetings and conduct <br />business <br />Working knowledge of computers -spreadsheets; electronic mail; word <br />processing; <br />VI. D. Fiscal Agent <br />The City of South Bend, through its Department of Community & Economic Development, <br />will continue its role as the fiscal agent for the grant. As currently done with the existing <br />site, the Department provides staff ,management and financial time addressing <br />accounting, monthly financial statements, managing accounts receivables, audit <br />preparation and the like for South Bend Weed & Seed Alliance (SBWSA). The City <br />contracts with SBAWSA for this service at no cost to SBWSA.
