South Bend Redevelopment Commission Rescheduled Regular Meeting –July 14, 2009 6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) B. South Bend Central Development Area (3) continued… A which was distributed at the meeting. Mr. Kain noted that the Addendum to the Master Agency Agreement authorizes the Board of Public Works to proceed with Phase II of the Michigan Street Improvement Project. Phase I was implemented in 2008 and covered Colfax to Wayne Streets, including removal of existing sidewalk and installing new concrete, new street lighting, planters and landscaping. Phase I did not include a small portion of Michigan Street that was in front of 101 N. Michigan, which was being renovated at the time. Phase II will, then, complete the improvements in front of 101 N. Michigan, as well as the sidewalks and curbs along the south side of that building on Washington Street which have been damaged during the façade renovation. Also, a small portion on Jefferson east of Michigan that did not get done due to lack of funds. The cost estimate for these improvements is $250,000, plus a 10% contingency and $15,000 for consulting. The total project cost is $290,000. Staff recommends approval. Ms. Jones asked if these are TIF funds that need to be used by a certain date. Mr. Inks responded that they are.
