South Bend Central Development Area <br /> <br />(3) continued… <br /> <br /> A which was distributed at the meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Kain noted that the Addendum to the <br />Master Agency Agreement authorizes the <br />Board of Public Works to proceed with Phase <br />II of the Michigan Street Improvement <br />Project. Phase I was implemented in 2008 <br />and covered Colfax to Wayne Streets, <br />including removal of existing sidewalk and <br />installing new concrete, new street lighting, <br />planters and landscaping. <br /> <br />Phase I did not include a small portion of <br />Michigan Street that was in front of 101 N. <br />Michigan, which was being renovated at the <br />time. Phase II will, then, complete the <br />improvements in front of 101 N. Michigan, <br />as well as the sidewalks and curbs along the <br />south side of that building on Washington <br />Street which have been damaged during the <br />façade renovation. Also, a small portion on <br />Jefferson east of Michigan that did not get <br />done due to lack of funds. The cost estimate <br />for these improvements is $250,000, plus a <br />10% contingency and $15,000 for consulting. <br />The total project cost is $290,000. Staff <br />recommends approval. <br /> <br />Ms. Jones asked if these are TIF funds that <br />need to be used by a certain date.
