Bill No. 09-43 <br />This resolution would allow a special exception to zoning at 747 S. Michigan Street to allow <br />overnight guests in a homeless shelter set up by Retired Judge Robert Miller to specifically serve <br />veterans. Representing Judge Miller, Dick Nussbaum explained the need for the facility, assuring <br />the committee it was compatible with and was working with the nearby Center for the Homeless. <br />Mark Lyons, from the Building Department reported positive finding from the Building Department <br />and a favor recommendation from the Board of Zoning Appeals. Councilmember Varner <br />motioned to send favorably to Council. Councilmember LaFountain seconded. The Committee <br />voted unanimously to send to Council favorably. <br />Bill No. 04-44 <br />This resolution would petition for a special exception for property located at 1823 S. St. Joseph. <br />The exception would allow an adult care facility/assisted living group home at this location. Mark <br />Lyons, Assistant Building Commissioner, described the project and reported that the staff and <br />BZA sends to the Council with a positive recommendation. Councilmember LaFountain motioned <br />favorably and Councilmember Varner seconded to send to Council favorably.
