Personnel and Finance Committee Meeting <br />June 8, 2009 <br />Page 2 <br />Works, Department of Code Enforcement and the Building Department. All of these <br />entities have recommended approval. <br />At 3:20 p.m. Council Member Oliver Davis joined the Committee meeting. <br />There was no one from the public to speak in favor or in opposition to the Bill. <br />Dr. Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member White, that Bill No. 09-46 be sent <br />with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed. <br />Miscellaneous Business: <br />Council Member White encourage all Council Members to be engaged in the upcoming <br />budget process in light of the financial challenges facing the city. She hoped that all <br />Council Members would be at the table during the budget hearings. <br />City Controller M. Catherine Fanello stated that she has suggested to Council Member <br />LaFountain that the Committee hold hearings on the draft budget the last week of July and <br />the first week of August. June 30, 2009 is the last day of meetings with the Department <br />Heads with the City Administration. July 10th is her target date for information to be sent <br />to the Common Council on the 2010 budget. September 30th is the deadline for passing a <br />budget by the Council. <br />Council President Dieter noted that he will have more information from the county and the <br />Mishawaka in the next couple of weeks on their plans for moving forward on COIT/LOIT. <br />Ms. Fanello added that Crowe Chizek looked at the state's numbers last Friday and that <br />the projected 5% reduction in tax receipts or higher appears to be accurate; with property <br />tax levy growth projected to be less than 2% in 2011. <br />Council Member LaFountain stated that he would like all Council Members to send to him <br />as soon as possible, all dates and times that they would be unavailable to meet. <br />There being no further business to come. before the Committee, Council Member <br />LaFountain adjourned the meeting at 3:25 p.m. <br />`~_ <br />homas LaFountain, <br />Finance Committee <br />Chairperson <br />Attachments <br />
