In that <br />report King stated that Katlum, after exiting his vehicle, stopped and took a bladed stance and <br />reached for his right side. <br />C® TI <br />On February 14, 2009 Cpl. Jason King used unnecessary force towards Skee Katlum, which conduct <br />violated Rules 301.03 and 302.00(1), (27) and (37) of the South Bend Police Duty Manual and the <br />"Response to Resistance" Order issued on April 28, 2008 and was conduct unbecoming a South <br />Bend police officer, thereby violating I.C. 36-8-3-4(b)(2)(B)(C)(G) d(H). <br />1111111011111 <br />LHUL11C k-77 <br />Boykins noted this was in accordance with past practice. I <br />President Dempsey stated the Board would accept the charges for filing and instructed the Clerk to <br />prepare a letter to serve the Charges on Corporal Jason King, <br />En a letter to the Board, Chief Boykins requested the Board honor the request for demotion to <br />Corporal in the Uniform Division for Sergeant Ronald Kaszas. Chief Boykins explained. that <br />Sergeant ,..s as has requested the demotion for personal reasons and has waived any rights to a <br />hearing on this matter under IC 36-8-3 before the Board of Public Safety. Upon a motion by Mr. <br />-6onDurant, seconded by Mr. Reed and carried, the demotion was approved. <br />
