street and abutting private property. <br /> Section 2. Ordinance Regulations and Rules. -- The driver <br /> of every vehicle operated upon the streets within the limits of the <br /> City of South Bend, in addition to provisions of the State Laws, shall <br /> conform to and observe the following ordinance regulations and rules. <br /> Section 3. Automatic Traffic Signals. -- Whenever an <br /> automatic signal or device is now or hereafter stationed at any street <br /> intersection by the Board of Public Safety, for the control and direction <br /> of traffic, it shall be the duty of all persons driving or operating any <br /> vehicle to be governed by and obey the color signals of such device <br /> according to their meaning as follows: <br /> "Amber" means clearance of intersedtion, and no vehicle <br /> shall enter the intersection during any of the period that the amber <br /> signal is displayed. <br /> "Green" means clear right of way and proceed. <br /> "Red" means stop. <br /> Street cars shall obey automatic traffic signals as well <br /> as vehicles. <br /> Vehicles in making left turns, at automatic signal inter- <br /> sections, except where left turns are prohibited , shall keep?to the <br /> right of the center of the intersection, and shall make the turn <br /> without interfering with vehicles or cross traffic proceeding con- <br /> formable to the green signal. <br /> Section 4. Safety Zones. -- The Board of Public Safety shall <br /> establish safety zones, for the protection of street car passengers, <br /> at such intersections or established street car stops, as may be deemed <br /> necessary or proper, which shall be designated by pavement markings or <br /> buttons, stanpns, platforms, or official posts or signs. <br /> It shall e unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle through, <br /> or to the left of, a safety zone, whether occupied or unoccupied by <br /> pedestrians. <br /> Where safety zones are established, street cars. shall receive <br /> passengers from or discharge them into such zones only, unless in cases <br /> ' of excessive street car traffic other protection authorized by the <br /> -2- u <br />
